Radiation effects in nitride read-only memories

Abstract We report on the influence of different types of radiation on the nitride read-only memories (NROM®). The memory cells were irradiated by light ions (Boron), X-rays and γ-rays. Memory transistor parameters, such as threshold voltage and subthreshold drain leakage were studied as a function of the accumulated radiation dose and compared to the as-programmed (-erased) devices parameters. Their time evolution was registered in the range from few hours up to 5 months after the irradiation. The NROM® cells showed good radiation robustness up to high accumulated doses. Atmospheric Background Measurement in the 300–400 nm Band with a Balloon Borne Experiment during a Nocturnal Flight

The balloon borne experiment, named BABY (BAckground BYpass) belongs to a wider program, AIRWATCH-OWL, intended for the observation of high energy Cosmic Rays from space, detecting the faint UV fluorescence light emitted by the atmospheric Nitrogen as final result of a complex hadronic cascade. In this framework, one of the fundamental information concern the knowledge of the background level. This is one of the main parameters that contribute to the sensitivity of any kind of instrument. The X-ray Facility at LAX in Palermo

A description is given of the X-ray facility installed at LAX (Laboratorio per Sperimentazioni con Radiazioni X), jointly operated in Palermo by the DEAF (Department of Energy and Physics Applications) of the University of Palermo and the IFCAT (Institute of Cosmic Physics and Informatics) of the Italian National Research Council. The X-rays are produced by bombarding a target with energized electrons up to 60 keV. Depending on the material of the target, characteristic fluorescence lines as well as continuous bremsstrahlung is emitted. Air fluorescence efficiency measurements for AIRWATCH based mission: Experimental set-up

In the framework of the AIRWATCH project we present an experimental set-up to measure the efficiency of the UV fluorescence production of the air using hard X-ray stimulus. The measures will be carried out at different pressure and temperature to emulate the same condition of the upper layers of the atmosphere where X-ray and gamma ray photons of Gamma Ray Bursts are absorbed.

Abstract The balloon-borne experiment, named BAckground BYpass (BABY) belongs to a wider program that has as its final goal the detection and study of high-energy cosmic rays from space (satellite, Space Station).
