The concept of field is one of the most importan! in Physics. Unfortunately secondary school students find it obscure and difficult to grasp. We argue that this is mainly due to an incorrect didactic treatment in Physics textbooks, wich causes the field idea to be seen as an artificial method to calculate the force, with a misleading superposition of the two concepts.
