Student voice in learning assessment: a pathway not yet developed at university
During 2009/2010, the current research was conducted with the aim of analysing student and teaching staff on regarding student participation in assessment. A content analysis of 76 subject outlines was carried out, and then 40 member of the teaching staff and 614 university students were surveyed. The results of the content analysis prove there is a shortage of information about and programming for student participation in assessment. Learning Oriented e-Assessment (e-LOA) is an ICT mediated learning process. It promotes the development of competences that are relevant to both students’ academic present and professional future. In this quasi-experimental research a pretest-posttest design with experimental and control groups is implemented. We believe that the actions of e-LOA favors further development of competences. The results show that in the experimental groups there is an improvement on the level of competence. Significant differences have been found between the pretest and posttest. La planificación basada en competencias en los másteres oficiales: un reto para el profesorado universitario
To focus the attention on competences means a radical change for the teaching design. It is one of the places where the most effective changes are expected. The research presented here tries to analyze the way that competences are used when describing official Master degrees. The competences of 87 Master degrees from 9 universities are analyzed. The results show that most Masters do not specify their competences. The most common ones refer to the knowledge application and that an enormous heterogeneity exists when classifying the types of competences.
