Classical pediatric Hodgkin lymphoma in very young patients: the Italian experience

Many studies have reported a more favorable outcome in younger patients with Hodgkin lymphoma (HL). The aims of this study were to find an appropriate age cutoff able to identify low-risk children and to describe the natural history of 135 very young patients affected by classic HL (cHL). The best age cutoff was identified at 7 years of age. EFS (p = .0451) and PFS (p = .00921) were significantly better in the group of younger patients. The OS rate at 10 years was 97.0% in the younger group and 92.5% in the older one (p = .0448). Adolescent and young adult cancer survivors may experience various forms of social difficulties years or even decades after completing their cancer treatments. This article will hopefully help the Italian national project dedicated to adolescents and young adults with cancer promoting political and legal solutions to stop discrimination and supporting the right to be forgotten.

Abstract The purpose of the study was to determine if abdomen/pelvis computed tomography (CT) can be safety omitted in the initial staging of a subgroup of children affected by Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL). Background: Sexual function is an important concern for adolescent and young adult (AYA) with cancer. The aim of this study was to explore the attitude of Italian health care professionals who deal with AYA patients with cancer toward sexual health communication. Materials and methods: A 11-question survey was developed by the AIOM (Associazione Italiana di Oncologia Medica) and AIEOP (Associazione Italiana Ematologia Oncologia Pediatrica) AYA workgroup and sent to AIOM and AIEOP members.
