Emotional and behavioral problems in children with attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder: Impact of age and learning disabilities

Comorbidity with other psychological problems (PP) complicates the course of attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and makes treatment more difficult. The purpose of the present study was to (a) study the correspondence between the perceptions of parents and teachers about PP, (b) determine which PP predict the severity of the manifestations of ADHD, and (c) analyze the role of age and learning disabilities (LD) in the development of PP and ADHD. Understanding Discipline in Families of Children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder: A Structural Equation Model

One hundred and fifty-five mothers of children with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) completed a semi-structured interview, the Parenting Stress Index Questionnaire (Abidin, 1990), to evaluate parenting stress. The Parenting Scale (Arnold, O’Leary, Wolff & Acker, 1993) was also administered to measure dysfunctional discipline strategies. Efectos sobre el contexto familiar de una intervención psicosocial compleja en niños con TDAH

El trastorno por déficit de atención con hiperactividad ejerce una compleja influencia negativa sobre el sistema familiar pocas veces investigada. Este trabajo analiza los efectos del tratamiento psicosocial sobre aspectos amplios de la dinámica familiar, como el grado de superación de las dificultades que las familias experimentan en el plano social y económico, las mejoras en los sentimientos y actitudes de los padres, o la tensión entre los hermanos o la propia pareja. Se pretende analizar también si la presencia de problemas de conducta asociados modula los resultados de la intervención.
