Abstract Innovation is a concept that is more and more often used as a solution for increased competitiveness and economic development, either at organizational level or at a national one, but how is it created and what are the factors involved in the cycle education-innovation-economic and social development? This article intents to clarify the above mentioned cycle and provide an insight on what innovation means and what are its components, especially from a macroeconomic point of view. The results show how important innovation and other components like education are for the national and global economic development.

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to present the present state, trends and focus of research regarding the factors that influence the decision making process in choosing a university in which a potential student will study. Particularities of Knowledge Worker's Motivation Strategies in Romanian Organizations

Abstract The employees are the best competitive advantage that one organization could have, since all the other resources could be imitated. In this context, motivated employees are the key to efficiently keeping up with the market forces and sustain the success of any organization. This paper aims to identify the ways in which knowledge workers from Sibiu area are motivated and which are the modern ideas that could improve the current strategies. The article reviews the relevant literature regarding knowledge workers and suggests some guidelines for identifying the recurrent issues in motivating these precious resources, as well as some directions for further research.

Abstract The Intellectual Capital of a firm is the sum total of its Human Capital, Structural Capital and Relational Capital. These assets form a source of distinct competitive advantage and distinguish the performance of one firm from the other. Some organizations appear to continue relying on traditional resources for wealth creation but they should increase their attention towards a greater reliance on intellectual capital factors. This study attempts to investigate the role of intellectual capital in nowadays modern organizations and in particular, its relevance for education institutions such as universities.

Talent Competitiveness and Competitiveness through Talent

Abstract The current economic environment makes us acknowledge that the human factor is the most critical resource for all national economies which aspire to improve their competitiveness and innovativeness in a sustainable way. Talent is the engine of that and a growing number of countries have recognized the importance of talent competitiveness. This article aims to cast a light on this matter and to present the findings of the Global Talent Competitiveness Report form 2013 which shows us why “the war for talent” is a global one. Also, the article provides some guidelines for a deeper understanding of talent: how we can attract and retain the workforce of the future.
