Hierarchical cross-scale analysis identifies parallel ventral striatal networks coding for dynamic and stabilized olfactory reward predictions

SUMMARYThe unbiased identification of brain circuits responsible for behavior and their local cellular computations is a challenge for neuroscience. We establish here a hierarchical cross-scale approach from behavioral modeling and fMRI in task-performing mice to cellular network dynamics to identify how reward predictions are represented in the forebrain upon olfactory conditioning. fMRI identified functional segregation in reward prediction and error computations among olfactory cortices and subcortical circuits. Abstract Introduction Cigarette smoking influences response to antidepressant treatment. It accelerates the metabolism of several cytochrome P450 (CYP) subtypes, including CYP1A2, and therefore bears the risk of pharmacokinetic interactions with psychotropic drugs using that pathway. Agomelatine is a substrate of CYP1A2; the association between nicotine use and agomelatine dosage, however, has never been studied before. RBFOX1, encoding a splicing regulator, is a candidate gene for aggressive behavior

The RBFOX1 gene (or A2BP1) encodes a splicing factor important for neuronal development that has been related to autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental phenotypes. Evidence from complementary sources suggests that this gene contributes to aggressive behavior. Suggestive associations with RBFOX1 have been identified in genome-wide association studies (GWAS) of anger, conduct disorder, and aggressive behavior. Nominal association signals in RBFOX1 were also found in an epigenome-wide association study (EWAS) of aggressive behavior.
