Resumen tradicional o resumen estructurado, o cómo persuadir al lector

2015

Which has more influence on perception of pseudo-therapies: the media’s information, friends or acquaintances opinion, or educational background?

2019

This study analyses the discourses of Education and Journalism students in order to understand their perception of complementary and alternative therapies. Likewise, to know if educational background or friends or acquaintances opinion has a more considerable influence on their knowledge and use of these socially controversial techniques than the media. This study uses qualitative research methods based upon 12 discussion groups with 102 participants. Once transcriptions were completed, discourse analysis was conducted using linguistic corpus software (T-LAB. 9.1.). In the design of the research, these students were selected for their social involvement in their future careers, such as when…

Florence Nightingale and the Spanish nursing school of Santa Isabel De Hungría (1896).

2021

PURPOSE The Spanish surgeon Federico Rubio-Gali worked at St. Thomas Hospital in England at the time when Florence Nightingale founded the Nightingale Training School for Nurses (1860). Apparently, he was quite aware of Nightingale's nursing work and expertise and it is known that founded the first Spanish nursing school, in Madrid, in 1896. This led us to wonder if the emergence of his school was purely by chance or was connected to what its founder learned in England. Likely, this learned knowledge led him to apply Nightingale's ideas and to put them into practice in his institution. METHODS We used content analysis techniques and developed categories and subcategories to search for ideol…

Traditional or structured abstract, or how to persuade the reader

2018

This paper studies the abstract, both traditional and structured, in order to assess its persuasive content through its five information units, as well as the presence of additional information in the Methods unit, in order to determine the abstract pattern that best persuades the reader. The research is based on a corpus of 320 abstracts from Spanish Nursing journals. Among the most significant results, abstract structure variability is highlighted. Also significant is the increase of information provided by structured abstracts, although an increase in size is also observed. From these results we can conclude that it is necessary to unify criteria for a better writing of abstracts, with c…
