The current situation in the world shows symptoms of an acute crisis of human identity and activity developing in many spheres: ecology, economy, education, social life, or the Church. The individual chapters of the present volume deal with these topics. In Chapter 1 (A crisis in the Bible), the Rev. Andrzej Demitrów analyzes a particular crisis situation between God and man as told by the Bible: the fall of man in the Garden of Eden (Gen. 2–3), “the original sin”, branded mankind with evil tendencies. The second chapter (A crisis in the dissemination and justification of the Catholic morality) contributed by the Rev. Janusz Podzielny, presents a reflection on the traditional understanding of morality in the Catholic Church and main problems in its propagation and explanation by contemporary theologians. The author proposes ways of finding a solution, making reference to the letter on the sexual abuse scandal published by Benedict XVI in 2019. The Rev. Andrzej Anderwald, in the third chapter (A socio-ecological crisis in the light of Laudato si’) describes the phenomenon of a crisis, presented integrally by Pope Francis in his ecological encyclical. The Pope refers there to the figure of St. Francis of Assisi as an example of a harmonious relation between man and God, other people, nature and himself: the care of nature and concern for justice for the poor lead to an inner peace. In Chapter 4 (Digital children, digital bonds – the crisis of the iGen from the perspective of selected socio-psychological problems), Sabina Waluś describes the contemporary youth of the iGeneration. The iGen youth, immersed in the virtual world, more attractive to them than the real one, have virtually an unlimited access to a wide range of media, games and electronic equipment. The iGen’s use of the new media influences their social relations and mental health. Ewa Kusz, in the last chapter (Church – Who are you? A crisis of the Church in the light of the sexual abuse scandal) expresses questions provoked by the scandal of sexual abuse of minors committed by Church pastors: How come that priests who are responsible for people abused them sexually? How was/is it possible that there is no firm answer to this by their superiors? Such concerns raise the following questions: where were we when the children were mistreated and what is the Church if she does not react or hides, or downplays incidents of abuse of children?
