espanolEl articulo recoge y comenta en la primera parte una serie de citas escalonadas en el tiempo que documentan en textos castellanos tres voces transcritas del arabe: xabeca, axubayca y axuayca. Esta ultima era bien conocida a traves del Cancionero de Baena. Atestiguadas en el area andaluza entre 1341 y 1568, las referencias recogidas permiten afirmar que axuayca es una variante grafica de axubayca que, a su vez, es un diminutivo de xabeca, la voz arabe para ‘red’. Los datos encajan y dan la clave para saber que tipo de joya era: un collar de perlitas, piedras y piezas de oro formando una redecilla.La segunda parte del trabajo esta dedicada a mostrar por que son inadmisibles las propuestas de explicacion de esta voz que se han dado con anterioridad, en particular la que modifico el vocablo convirtiendolo en axurayca para hacer de el el diminutivo de ajorca, un tipo de brazalete. La conclusion es que la grafia axuayca del Cancionero de Baena es correcta y no debe ser corregida. EnglishIn its first part, this article comments on a series of quotations documenting three words found in Spanish texts and transcribed from Arabic: xabeca, axubayca and axuayca. The latter was well known through the Cancionero of Baena. Documented in the Andalusian area between 1341 and 1568, the references allow us to state that axuayca is a graphic variant of axubayca, which in turn is a diminutive of xabeca, the Arabic voice for ‘net’. The data fit together and provide the key to knowing what kind of jewel it was: a necklace made of pearls, precious stones and gold beads forming a net.The second part is dedicated to showing why previous proposals aiming to explain the etymology and meaning of this word are not valid, in particular the one that modified the term by turning it into axurayca to make it the diminutive of ajorca, a type of bracelet. The conclusion is that the spelling axuayca in the Cancionero of Baena is correct and should not be amended.
