The philosophical theme about the necessity of the dominion of passions is expressed through the structure and the incisiveness of syllogism, model of Aristotelian logic that explains in a vivid way the pregnant identity between wisdom and happiness, of which the philosophical message substantiates itself. Seneca makes use of syllogism to explain both the logical connection which binds the cooptation of passional complex to virtus and happiness and the relation of derivation and identity in which virtus sets itself in the syllogistic relation, at the peak of hierarchic scale in the construction of individual balance and social good.
