International audience; This article aims at presenting an accurate and exhaustive survey of the evolution of enrollment in vocational streams in French Higher Education within the last forty years or so. It focuses on the increase in the proportion of students enrolling in these streams, on the fast increase of vocational training within the universities and on the beginning of the introduction of a vocational dimension in the traditional general streams. It insists in conclusion on the limits and dangers of indiscriminate vocationalization in Higher Education.
