The Dirichlet-Bohr radius
2015
[EN] Denote by Ω(n) the number of prime divisors of n ∈ N (counted with multiplicities). For x ∈ N define the Dirichlet-Bohr radius P L(x) to be the best r > 0 such that for every finite Dirichlet polynomial n≤x ann −s we have X n≤x |an|r Ω(n) ≤ sup t∈R X n≤x ann −it . We prove that the asymptotically correct order of L(x) is (log x) 1/4x −1/8 . Following Bohr’s vision our proof links the estimation of L(x) with classical Bohr radii for holomorphic functions in several variables. Moreover, we suggest a general setting which allows to translate various results on Bohr radii in a systematic way into results on Dirichlet-Bohr radii, and vice versa
Essential features of optical processes in neon-buffered submicron-thin Rb vapor cell
2010
A new submicron thin cell (STC) filled with Rb and neon gas is developed and comparison of resonant absorption with STC containing pure Rb is provided. The effect of collapse and revival of Dicke-type narrowing is still observable for the thickness L = lambda /2 and L = lambda , where lambda is a resonant laser wavelength 794 nm (D(1) line). For an ordinary Rb cm-size cell with addition of buffer gas, the velocity selective optical pumping/saturation (VSOP) resonances in saturated absorption spectra are fully suppressed if neon pressure0.5 Torr. A spectacular difference is that for L = lambda , VSOP resonances are still observable even when neon pressure isor = 6 Torr. Narrow fluorescence s…
Higher integrability and stability of (p,q)-quasiminimizers
2023
Using purely variational methods, we prove local and global higher integrability results for upper gradients of quasiminimizers of a $(p,q)$-Dirichlet integral with fixed boundary data, assuming it belongs to a slightly better Newtonian space. We also obtain a stability property with respect to the varying exponents $p$ and $q$. The setting is a doubling metric measure space supporting a Poincar\'e inequality.
Volume growth, capacity estimates, p-parabolicity and sharp integrability properties of p-harmonic Green functions
2023
In a complete metric space equipped with a doubling measure supporting a $p$-Poincar\'e inequality, we prove sharp growth and integrability results for $p$-harmonic Green functions and their minimal $p$-weak upper gradients. We show that these properties are determined by the growth of the underlying measure near the singularity. Corresponding results are obtained also for more general $p$-harmonic functions with poles, as well as for singular solutions of elliptic differential equations in divergence form on weighted $\mathbf{R}^n$ and on manifolds. The proofs are based on a new general capacity estimate for annuli, which implies precise pointwise estimates for $p$-harmonic Green functions…
Multisummability for generalized power series
2022
We develop multisummability, in the positive real direction, for generalized power series with natural support, and we prove o-minimality of the expansion of the real field by all multisums of these series. This resulting structure expands both $\mathbb{R}_{\mathcal{G}}$ and the reduct of $\mathbb{R}_{\mathrm{an}^*}$ generated by all convergent generalized power series with natural support; in particular, its expansion by the exponential function defines both the Gamma function on $(0,\infty)$ and the Zeta function on $(1,\infty)$.
Quasiregular ellipticity of open and generalized manifolds
2014
We study the existence of geometrically controlled branched covering maps from \(\mathbb R^3\) to open \(3\)-manifolds or to decomposition spaces \(\mathbb {S}^3/G\), and from \(\mathbb {S}^3/G\) to \(\mathbb {S}^3\).
On proper branched coverings and a question of Vuorinen
2022
We study global injectivity of proper branched coverings from the open Euclidean n$n$-ball onto an open subset of the Euclidean n$n$-space in the case where the branch set is compact. In particular, we show that such mappings are homeomorphisms when n=3$n=3$ or when the branch set is empty. This gives a positive answer to the corresponding cases of a question of Vuorinen. A Koebe distortion theorem for quasiconformal mappings in the Heisenberg group
2017
We prove a Koebe distortion theorem for the average derivative of a quasiconformal mapping between domains in the sub-Riemannian Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}_1$. Several auxiliary properties of quasiconformal mappings between subdomains of $\mathbb{H}_1$ are proven, including distortion of balls estimates and local BMO-estimates for the logarithm of the Jacobian of a quasiconformal mapping. Applications of the Koebe theorem include diameter bounds for images of curves, comparison of integrals of the average derivative and the operator norm of the horizontal differential, as well as the study of quasiconformal densities and metrics in domains in $\mathbb{H}_1$. The theorems are discussed for…
Uniformization of metric surfaces using isothermal coordinates
2021
We establish a uniformization result for metric surfaces - metric spaces that are topological surfaces with locally finite Hausdorff 2-measure. Using the geometric definition of quasiconformality, we show that a metric surface that can be covered by quasiconformal images of Euclidean domains is quasiconformally equivalent to a Riemannian surface. To prove this, we construct suitable isothermal coordinates.
Equivalence of quasiregular mappings on subRiemannian manifolds via the Popp extension
2016
We show that all the common definitions of quasiregular mappings $f\colon M\to N$ between two equiregular subRiemannian manifolds of homogeneous dimension $Q\geq 2$ are quantitatively equivalent with precise dependences of the quasiregularity constants. As an immediate consequence, we obtain that if $f$ is $1$-quasiregular according to one of the definitions, then it is also $1$-quasiregular according to any other definition. In particular, this recovers a recent theorem of Capogna et al. on the equivalence of $1$-quasiconformal mappings. Our main results answer affirmatively a few open questions from the recent research. The main new ingredient in our proofs is the distortion estimates for…
