Persistence or Change in Leisure-Time Physical Activity Habits and Waist Gain During Early Adulthood: A Twin-Study

Objective To determine the relationship between persistence or change in leisure‐time physical activity habits and waist gain among young adults. Methods Population‐based cohort study among 3383 Finnish twin individuals (1578 men) from five birth cohorts (1975‐1979), who answered questionnaires at mean ages of 24.4 y (SD 0.9) and 33.9 y (SD 1.2), with reported self‐measured waist circumference. Effects of Physical and Cognitive Training on Gait Speed and Cognition in Older Adults : A Randomized Controlled Trial

Gait speed is a measure of health and functioning. Physical and cognitive determinants of gait are amenable to interventions, but best practices remain unclear. We investigated the effects of a 12‐month physical and cognitive training (PTCT) on gait speed, dual‐task cost in gait speed, and executive functions (EFs) compared to physical training (PT) (ISRCTN52388040). Community‐dwelling older adults, who did not meet physical activity recommendations, were recruited (n=314). Studied the antimicrobial activity of secondary extract from oregano herbs waste (Origanum vulgare)against 7 standard test strains of microrganisms. Minimum bactericidal concentration of the extract to Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 P-is 3.125-6.25 mg/ml and 6.25-12.5 mg/ml to gram-negative bacteria and Candida albicans ATCC 10231.Total antioxidant activity determined by DPPH, secondary extract at a concentration of 400 ug/ml was 92 %. The tested extract had photoprotective activity. Obtained results confirm the perspective of using waste of oregano herbs for making extracts and creation on their basis of pharmaceuticals, veterinary drugs and cosmetics.

The aim of this study was to determine the gender differences between students' actual and perceived water abilities, how respondents assess risk in the described situations, and whether there are gender differences for those situations. The cross-sectional study was conducted on 150 students aged 19–20 years (males, n = 88; females, n = 62) from the faculty of sport and physical education, University of Novi Sad. Using calculated frequencies and estimates, students' self-assessment and actual measures of their swimming and survival skills and their perceived risk of drowning are described. Aktywność ucznia ma ogromne znaczenie w kształtowaniu i rozwijaniu abstrakcyjnych pojęć matematycznych. Jednak aktywność ta nie powinna ograniczać się jedynie do aktywności zewnętrznej, często jedynie pozornej, ale przede wszystkim powinna być to aktywność umysłowa ucznia. Zachowania i postawy specyficzne dla aktywności matematycznej można bowiem rozwijać u ucznia jedynie w toku jego aktywności poznawczej (intelektualnej). W opracowaniu podjęto próbę ukazania możliwości stymulowania i rozwijania oraz przejawy aktywności matematycznej uczniów w wieku wczesnoszkolnym w trakcie rozwiązywania zadań.

Ortho -Functionalized Aryltetrazines by Direct Palladium-Catalyzed C−H Halogenation: Application to Fast Electrophilic Fluorination Reactions

International audience; A general catalyzed direct C-H functionalization of s-tetrazines is reported. Under mild reaction conditions, N-directed ortho-C-H activation of tetrazines allows the introduction of various functional groups, thus forming carbon-heteroatom bonds: C-X (X=I, Br, Cl) and C-O. Based on this methodology, we developed electrophilic mono- and poly-ortho-fluorination of tetrazines. Microwave irradiation was optimized to afford fluorinated s-aryltetrazines, with satisfactory selectivity, within only ten minutes.
