The comparison of beta-thymosin homologues among metazoa supports an arthropod-nematode clade.

2000

The definition of an Ecdysozoa clade among the protostomians, including all phyla with a regularly molted alpha-chitin-rich cuticle, has been one of the most provocative hypotheses to arise from recent investigations on animal phylogeny. Here we present evidence in favor of an arthropod-nematode clade, from the comparison of beta-thymosin homologues among the Metazoa. Arthropods and nematodes share the absence of the highly conserved beta-thymosin form found in all other documented bilaterian phyla as well as sponges, and the possession of a very unusual, internally triplicated homologue of the beta-thymosin protein, unknown in other phyla. We argue that such discrete molecular character is…

Zur frage: Psoriasis vulgaris und Leber

1964

Enantioselective Organocatalysis of Strecker and Mannich Reactions Based on Carbohydrates.

2007

Efficient organocatalysts for enantioselective Strecker and Mannich reactions were constructed from glucosamine as a readily accessible chiral scaffold. A variety of aromatic aldimines were subjected to hydrocyanation with good to excellent yield (72–98 %) and, in part, high enantioselectivity (69–95 % ee). Influence of the catalyst architecture on the enantioselectivity obviously arises from restrictions imposed on the conformational flexibility of the monosaccharidic backbone. In the asymmetric Mannich reaction moderate yields (up to 76 %) and enantioselectivities (up to 58 % ee) have been achieved with the described catalyst.

Enantioselective Synthesis of α-Quaternary Amino Acids by Alkylation of Deprotonated α-Aminonitriles.

2015

A series of α-quaternary arylglycines were prepared in high optical purity (up to 98% ee) by α-alkylation of deprotonated α-aminonitriles derived by the Strecker reaction from (4S,5S)-5-amino-2,2-dimethyl-4-phenyl-1,3-dioxane. The procedure includes only chromatographic purification of the final products and is devoid of chromatography or crystallization operations on intermediates to raise the optical purity.

Sequestering Ability of Aminopolycarboxylic (APCs) and Aminopolyphosphonic (APPs) Ligands Toward Palladium(II) in Aqueous Solution

2014

The binding capacity of three aminopolycarboxylates [nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA), ethylene-glycol-bis(2-aminoethyl ether)-N,N,N,N-tetraacetic acid (EGTA), and diethylenetriamine-N,N,N,NN-pentaacetic acid (DTPA)] and two aminopolyphosphonates {(1-hydroxyethane-1,1-diyl)bis(phosphonic acid) (HEDP) and [[(phosphonomethyl)imino]bis[2,1-ethanediylnitrilobis(methylene)]] tetrakis-phosphonic acid (DTPP)} toward palladium(II) ion was studied by potentiometric and spectrophotometric titrations at different temperatures (283.15 ≤ T/K ≤ 318.15) and ionic strengths (0.1 ≤ I/mol·dm -3 ≤ 1.0) in NaClO4. The hydrolysis of Pd2+ and the protonation of ligands were always taken into account in the speciation…

Contents of free amino acids in needles of Norway Spruce trees in relation to novel forest decline. Studies on trees from a site in the northern Blac…

1993

The free amino acid content in needles of Norway spruce trees (about 45-year-old) was determined by means of HPLC. The studied trees have been growing at a forestry site in the Black Forest which is characterized by a high impact of ozone and magnesium deficiency. Measurements were carried out on visibly healthy and on damaged trees on several dates during two vegetation periods and during the course of a day. The amino acids occurring at the highest concentrations were glutamate, arginine, aspartate, and glutamine. The typical seasonal changes in the content of free amino acids, with their minimum during summer, were disturbed in the needles of the damaged trees. Particularly in summer and…

ChemInform Abstract: Ring Expansion of 1,2,3,4-Tetrahydroisoquinolines to Dibenzo[c,f]azonines. An Unexpected [1,4]-Sigmatropic Rearrangement of Nitr…

2014

When the products of a Strecker reaction of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolines with aromatic aldehydes are quaternized with alkyl triflates and subsequently treated with base, a ring expansion to 6,7,8,13-tetrahydro-5H-dibenzo[c,f]azonine-5-carbonitriles takes place. The nine-membered cyclic products can be obtained in good yields (78–89%) in a process involving the [1,4]-sigmatropic rearrangement of a nitrile-stabilized ammonium ylide. The reaction sequence provides a new, simple, and efficient method for the synthesis of these unusual N-heterocycles.

Differential reactivity of fluorinated homopropargylic amino esters vs gold(I) salts. The role of the nitrogen protecting group

2015

The reaction of several homopropargyl amino esters 4, bearing aromatic substituents and a benzyl group as nitrogen substituents, with gold(I) salts gave rise to fluorinated quinolines 6 in a tandem hydroarylation-isomerization process. On the other hand, homopropargyl amino esters 7 containing a carbamate group underwent the carbonyl addition over the triple bond in the presence of gold(I) salts, rendering fluorinated oxazines 8. The use of chiral sulfoxides allowed us to develop the asymmetric version of this protocol. This two processes complete the differential reactivity showed by these types of susbtrates, depending on the nature of the nitrogen protecting group. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V.…

Potential role of branched-chain amino acid catabolism in regulating fat oxidation.

2013

Insulin-resistant or obese individuals have increased serum branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) levels. Recent findings relate increased BCAA catabolism to increased fatty acid oxidation and better metabolic health in physically active individuals. We hypothesize that, via glyceroneogenesis, BCAA catabolism mediates increased constitutive use of fatty acids for β-oxidation in subjects with increased inherent or acquired aerobic capacity both during exercise and at rest.
