Oral glutathione increases hepatic glutathione and prevents acetaminophen toxicity

Administration of oral glutathione (GSH) increases hepatic GSH levels in fasted rats, in mice treated with GSH depletors such as diethylmaleate and in mice treated with high doses of paracetamol. An increase in hepatic GSH levels after administration of oral GSH does not occur in animals treated with buthionine suphoximine, an inhibitor of GSH synthesis. Administration of oral GSH leads to an increase in the concentration of L-cysteine, a precursor of GSH, in portal blood plasma. Oral administration of L-methio-nine to fasted rats produced a significant decrease of hepatic ATP, but not in fed rats. Vicenin-2 (apigenin-6,8-di-C-β-d-glucopyranoside) is present in hydroalcoholic extracts of the Brazilian species Lychnophora ericoides Mart., Asteraceae, leaves, and the biological effects of this compound have been demonstrated including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-tumor effects in rat models. The EU still has a democratic deficit and its legitimacy is strongly questioned. This reveals the importance of citizenship and participation in the context of the challenges the EU faces today. The article contributes to the current discussions on the shifting frameworks of participation and citizenship through empirical research into the EU’s participatory governance. It asks how participation is framed in terms of scale and how these scalar framings are used to formulate citizenship in selected projects funded by the EU programmes on citizenship and culture. Cet article presente les resultats d’une enquete exploratoire dont l’objet est l’etude des rapports entre l’automatisation des tableaux de bord et la coherence du controle de gestion. A partir de deux cas juges exemplaires, celui d’une entreprise industrielle et celui d’une banque, nous etudions cette relation sous l’angle du partage des representations et de la coherence des comportements. Il en ressort que l’augmentation de la formalisation ne cree pas davantage de rigidite mais produit au contraire plus de dynamique ou de continuite et de permanence.
