A Multiplicity result for a class of strongly indefinite asymptotically linear second order systems
2010
We prove a multiplicity result for a class of strongly indefinite nonlinear second order asymptotically linear systems with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The key idea for the proof is to bring together the classical shooting method and the Maslov index of the linear Hamiltonian systems associated to the asymptotic limits of the given nonlinearity.
Morphisms of certain banach C*-modules
2000
Morphisms and representations of a class of Banach C*-modules, called CQ*algebras, are considered. Together with a general method for constructing CQ*-algebras, two different ways of extending the GNS-representation are presented.
Spectral Properties of Partial *-Algebras
2010
We continue our study of topological partial *algebras focusing our attention to some basic spectral properties. The special case of partial *-algebras of operators is examined first, in order to find sufficient hints for the study of the abstract case. The outcome consists in the selection of a class of topological partial *-algebras (partial GC*-algebras) that behave well from the spectral point of view and that allow, under certain conditions, a faithful realization as a partial O*-algebra.
Classification and non-existence results for weak solutions to quasilinear elliptic equations with Neumann or Robin boundary conditions
2021
Abstract We classify positive solutions to a class of quasilinear equations with Neumann or Robin boundary conditions in convex domains. Our main tool is an integral formula involving the trace of some relevant quantities for the problem. Under a suitable condition on the nonlinearity, a relevant consequence of our results is that we can extend to weak solutions a celebrated result obtained for stable solutions by Casten and Holland and by Matano.

Existence of viscosity solutions to two-phase problems for fully nonlinear equations with distributed sources
2018
In this paper we construct a viscosity solution of a two-phase free boundary problem for a class of fully nonlinear equation with distributed sources, via an adaptation of the Perron method. Our results extend those in [Caffarelli, 1988], [Wang, 2003] for the homogeneous case, and of [De Silva, Ferrari, Salsa, 2015] for divergence form operators with right hand side.
Neoemozioni e colletti bianchi. Uno studio qualitativo
2013
Extensions of Representable Positive Linear Functionals to Unitized Quasi *-Algebras: A New Method
2014
In this paper we introduce a topological approach for extending a representable linear functional \({\omega}\), defined on a topological quasi *-algebra without unit, to a representable linear functional defined on a quasi *-algebra with unit. In particular, we suppose that \({\omega}\) is continuous and the positive sesquilinear form \({\varphi_\omega}\), associated with \({\omega}\), is closable and prove that the extension \({\overline{\varphi_\omega}^e}\) of the closure \({\overline{\varphi_\omega}}\) is an i.p.s. form. By \({\overline{\varphi_\omega}^e}\) we construct the desired extension.
$n$-th relative nilpotency degree and relative $n$-isoclinism classes
2011
P. Hall introduced the notion of isoclinism between two groups more than 60 years ago. Successively, many authors have extended such a notion in different contexts. The present paper deals with the notion of relative n-isoclinism, given by N. S. Hekster in 1986, and with the notion of n-th relative nilpotency degree, recently introduced in literature.
EXISTENCE OF THREE SOLUTIONS FOR A MIXED BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEM WITH THE STURM-LIOUVILLE EQUATION
2012
Abstract. The aim of this paper is to establish the existence of threesolutions for a Sturm-Liouville mixed boundary value problem. The ap-proach is based on multiple critical points theorems. 1. IntroductionThe aim of this paper is to establish, under a suitable set of assumptions, theexistence of at least three solutions for the following Sturm-Liouville problemwith mixed boundary conditions(RS λ )ˆ−(pu ′ ) ′ +qu = λf(t,u) in I =]a,b[u(a) = u ′ (b) = 0,where λ is a positive parameter and p, q, f are regular functions. To be precise,if f : [a,b] × R→ Ris a L 2 -Carath´eodory function and p,q ∈ L ∞ ([a,b]) suchthatp 0 := essinf t∈[a,b] p(t) > 0, q 0 := essinf t∈[a,b] q(t) ≥ 0,then we prove …
