Mechanical Characterization of Polysaccharide/polyaminoacid Hydrogels as Potential Scaffolds for Tissue Regeneration

2011

The mechanical properties of hydrogel scaffolds based on hyaluronic acid (HA) that were chemically crosslinked with α,β-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl)(2-aminoethylcarbamate)-D,L-aspartamide (PHEA-EDA) were investigated. Variation of these properties as a function of three different PHEA-EDA amounts used to crosslink HA has been related to the reaction efficiency evaluated using a colorimetric assay. Moreover, the amount of unreacted amino groups that was still present in the hydrogels was related to the attachment behavior of human dermal fibroblasts to the hydrogel surface. The mechanical data and biological results suggest the suitability of the investigated hydrogels as scaffolds for the regener…

The moderating effect of attachment styles on the relationships between maltreatment experiences and internalizing and externalizing problems among a…

2020

Multiple studies have documented the relationship between child maltreatment and internalizing and externalizing problems. Evidence suggests that the link between child maltreatment and these psychopathological outcomes may be moderated by various factors. Attachment styles may be one such moderating factor in this relationship. This study seeks to explore whether different attachment style profiles are associated with different forms of maltreatment as well as internalizing and externalizing symptoms, and whether attachment styles may moderate the link between different forms of maltreatment and internalizing and externalizing problems. For this purpose, 387 students from Italian public hi…

Rodzice zastępczy wobec problemów dzieci z Zespołem zaburzenia więzi

2013

Artykuł przedstawia wybrane zagadnienia dotyczące więzi i przywiązania w układzie rodzice zastępczy - dziecko - rodzice biologiczni. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na Zespół zaburzenia więzi, który dodatkowo komplikuje proces reintegracji rodziny biologicznej.

Decentering, Acceptance, and Non-Attachment : Challenging the Question "Is It Me?"

2021

Among mindfulness measures the three constructs acceptance, decentering, and non-attachment are psychometrically closely related, despite their apparent semantic differences. These three facets present robust psychometric features and can be considered core themes in most “third wave” clinical models. The aim of the present study was to explore the apparently different content domains (acceptance, decentering, and non-attachment) by administering various psychometric scales in a large sample of 608 volunteers. Resilience and depression were also assessed. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses performed in two randomly selected subsamples showed a bifactor approximation. The explained…

Infectious Entry Pathway of Enterovirus B Species

2015

Enterovirus B species (EV-B) are responsible for a vast number of mild and serious acute infections. They are also suspected of remaining in the body, where they cause persistent infections contributing to chronic diseases such as type I diabetes. Recent studies of the infectious entry pathway of these viruses revealed remarkable similarities, including non-clathrin entry of large endosomes originating from the plasma membrane invaginations. Many cellular factors regulating the efficient entry have recently been associated with macropinocytic uptake, such as Rac1, serine/threonine p21-activated kinase (Pak1), actin, Na/H exchanger, phospholipace C (PLC) and protein kinase Cα (PKCα). The Role of Perceived Social Support as a Contributor to the Successful Transition from Primary to Lower Secondary School

2019

Following approximately 1,800 Finnish children, this longitudinal study examined the associations between students’ perceived social support (teacher-student relationships, family support, and peer support), behavioral engagement, cynicism towards school, and academic achievement during the transition from primary to lower secondary school. After controlling for parental educational level and cynicism before the school transition, the results showed that the more students experienced pre-transition peer support, the less they reported post-transition cynicism. Furthermore, pre-transition peer support contributed to students’ increased academic achievement and behavioral engagement after the…

Adversarial Attack’s Impact on Machine Learning Model in Cyber-Physical Systems

2020

Deficiency of correctly implemented and robust defence leaves Internet of Things devices vulnerable to cyber threats, such as adversarial attacks. A perpetrator can utilize adversarial examples when attacking Machine Learning models used in a cloud data platform service. Adversarial examples are malicious inputs to ML-models that provide erroneous model outputs while appearing to be unmodified. This kind of attack can fool the classifier and can prevent ML-models from generalizing well and from learning high-level representation; instead, the ML-model learns superficial dataset regularity. This study focuses on investigating, detecting, and preventing adversarial attacks towards a cloud dat…

Bērnības piesaistes attiecību saistība ar dzīvesspēku jauniešiem

2022

Pētījumā piedalījās 53 dalībnieki, no tiem 45 sievietes un 8 vīrieši, vecumā no 18 līdz 25 gadiem, kuriem bērnības piesaistes attiecības tika pētītas, izmantojot Vecāku un vienaudžu piesaistes aptauju (The Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment, Armsden & Greenberg, 1987. Latvijā adaptējusi Lubenko, J., 2007), kā arī dzīvesspēka pētniecībai tika izmantota Dzīvesspēka aptauja pieaugušajiem (RSA Res…
