Myriocin-induced adaptive laboratory evolution of an industrial strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae reveals its potential to remodel lipid composition…
2020
The modification of lipid composition allows cells to adjust membrane biophysical properties in response to changes in environmental temperature. Here, we use adaptive laboratory evolution (ALE) in the presence of myriocin, a sphingolipid (SLs) biosynthesis inhibitor, to remodel the lipid profile of an industrial yeast strain (LH) of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The approach enabled to obtain a heterogeneous population (LHev) of myriocin‐tolerant evolved clones characterized by its growth capacity at high temperature. Myriocin exposure also caused tolerance to soraphen A, an inhibitor of the acetyl‐CoA carboxylase Acc1, the rate‐limiting enzyme in fatty acid de novo production, supporting a ch…
Regulation of Human Mitochondrial Aldehyde Dehydrogenase (ALDH-2) Activity by Electrophiles in Vitro
2011
Recently, mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH-2) was reported to reduce ischemic damage in an experimental myocardial infarction model. ALDH-2 activity is redox-sensitive. Therefore, we here compared effects of various electrophiles (organic nitrates, reactive fatty acid metabolites, or oxidants) on the activity of ALDH-2 with special emphasis on organic nitrate-induced inactivation of the enzyme, the biochemical correlate of nitrate tolerance. Recombinant human ALDH-2 was overexpressed in Escherichia coli; activity was determined with an HPLC-based assay, and reactive oxygen and nitrogen species formation was determined by chemiluminescence, fluorescence, protein tyrosine nitration,…

High performance algorithms based on a new wawelet expansion for time dependent acoustics obstale scattering
2007
This paper presents a highly parallelizable numerical method to solve time dependent acoustic obstacle scattering problems. The method proposed is a generalization of the ``operator expansion method" developed by Recchioni and Zirilli [SIAM J.~Sci.~Comput., 25 (2003), 1158-1186]. The numerical method proposed reduces, via a perturbative approach, the solution of the scattering problem to the solution of a sequence of systems of first kind integral equations. The numerical solution of these systems of integral equations is challenging when scattering problems involving realistic obstacles and small wavelengths are solved. A computational method has been developed to solve these challenging p…
Enantioselective Synthesis of 5-Trifluoromethyl-2-oxazolines under Dual Silver/Organocatalysis.
2019
[EN] The first enantioselective formal [3 + 2] cycloaddition between ¿-isocyanoesters and trifluoromethylketones to give 5-trifluoromethyl-2-oxazolines bearing two contiguous stereogenic centers, one of them being a quaternary stereocenter substituted with a CF3 group, has been developed. The reaction is based upon a multicatalytic approach that combines a bifunctional Brønsted base-squaramide organocatalyst and Ag+ as Lewis acid. The reaction could be achieved with a range of aryl and heteroaryl trifluoromethyl ketones, and the resulting oxazolines were obtained with good to excellent diastereo- and enantioselectivity.
Terminología y traducción económica francés-español: evaluación de recursos terminológicos en el ámbito contable
2014
The aim of this paper is to evaluate a series of terminology resources and determine their suitability to the practice of French-Spanish translation of accounting documents. First we identify the terminology needs of a specific group of translator trainees when facing business translation, as well as the resources they use particularly when translating annual accounts. Then, we select various terminology resources used in this context and evaluate them according to their needs. The results suggest the development of a French-Spanish dictionary of accounting terms adapted to the terminology needs of the practice of translation in this area.
Acid Catalysis with Alkane/Water Microdroplets in Ionic Liquids
2021
Ionic liquids are composed of an organic cation and a highly delocalized perfluorinated anion, which remain tight to each other and neutral across the extended liquid framework. Here we show that n-alkanes in millimolar amounts enable a sufficient ion charge separation to release the innate acidity of the ionic liquid and catalyze the industrially relevant alkylation of phenol, after generating homogeneous, self-stabilized, and surfactant-free microdroplets (1–5 μm). This extremely mild and simple protocol circumvents any external additive or potential ionic liquid degradation and can be extended to water, which spontaneously generates microdroplets (ca. 3 μm) and catalyzes Brönsted rather …
New light on an old debate: does the RCN–PtCl2 bond include any back-donation? RCN←PtCl2 backbonding vs. the IR νCN blue-shift dichotomy in organoni…
2019
For a series of organonitrile [RCN (R = Me, CF3, Ph, CH3Ph, CF3Ph)] ligands, the nature of the N–Pt bond in the related cis-/trans-(RCN)2PtCl2 complexes has been computationally investigated by Density Functional Theory. A fragment based bond analysis has been performed in the canonical Kohn–Sham molecular orbitals framework, and it has been ultimately assessed that this bond is characterized both by N→Pt σ and by N←Pt π contributions. Voronoi Deformation Density charges further confirms the occurrence of N←Pt π interactions. Moreover, the Energy Decomposition Analysis-Natural Orbital for Chemical Valence (EDA-NOCV) method shows that the strength of the N←Pt π interaction is not negligible …
Towards purely inorganic clusters in medicine: Biocompatible divalent cations as counterions of cobaltabis(dicarbollide) and its iodinated derivatives
2021
Monovalent cations, Cs+, and alkylammonium ([NR4]+) salts have traditionally been used to precipitate the anions of boranes, carborane and metallocarborane clusters. In contrast, in the body and in living organisms in general, divalent cations have a special relevance. In this work, we isolate for the first time the cobaltabis(dicarbollide) salts of the biocompatible divalent cations of biological importance that can have application both in biology and in materials science. The preparation of Ca2+, Mg2+ and Fe2+ salts of anionic iodinated nido-[C2B9H12]− and cobaltabis(dicarbollide) as well as its di-, tetra- and octa-iodinated derivatives are reported. Ca2+ and Mg2+ are hard Lewis acids a…
Efficient and Mild Ytterbium(III)-Catalyzed Tosylation of Alcohols.
2004
Ytterbium(III) trifluoromethanesulfonate efficiently catalyzes the reaction of primary and secondary alcohols with toluenesulfonic acid anhydride to yield the alkyl tosylates in high yields. The reactions were carried outunder neutral and mild conditions and product purification was easily achieved by means of short column chromatography.
