ABSTRACT Tubocurarine reduced (60%) [3H]acetylcholine release from the isolated rat phrenic nerve at concentrations of 1 or 10 μM, but blocked backfiring of the phrenic nerve occuring after partial blockade of cholinesterase already at a concentration of 100 nM. The distinct potency of tubocurarine suggests differences between the presynaptic nicotine receptors mediating autofacilitation of release and preterminal nicotine receptors mediating backfiring of the motor nerve or a low agonist concentration at the latter receptors. Zilo gaismu bloķējošo lēcu ietekme uz kontrastjutību

Bakalaura darbs ir 21 lappaspusi garš, satur 9. attēlus, 1. tabulu un 39. literatūras atsauces. Darba mērķis ir novērtēt zilo gaismu bloķējošo lēcu ietekmi uz kontrastjutību. Mērījumi tika veikti, izmantojot Pelli-Robsona testu, kurš tika rādīts iPad telefonā. Mērījumā piedalījās 55 dalībnieki. Mērījumi tika veikti ar briļļu lēcām, kurām bija zilo gaismu bloķējošais klājums, kā arī ar lēcām, kurām bija tradicionālais pretatspīdumu klājums. Kontrastjutība bija labāka ar zilo gaismu bloķējošām lēcām nekā ar lēcām, kurām bija tradicionālais pretatspīdumu klājums (p<0.001). Drug metabolism is the major determinant of drug clearance and, because of polymorphic or inducible expression of drug-metabolising cytochrome P450s (CYPs), is the factor most frequently responsible for interindividual differences in pharmacokinetics. A number of well characterised CYP substrates and inhibitors have been identified that allow precise measurements of individual CYP isoforms. Their use, alone or in combination, facilitates the phenotype characterisation of hepatocytes in vitro and in vivo. A comparison of the antihypertensive action of propranolol and the optical isomers of N-isopropyl-p-nitrophenylethanolamine (INPEA)

In hypertensive patients, the effect of propranolol and of the optical isomers of N-isopropyl-p-nitrophenylethanolamine (INPEA) on blood pressure was studied. Single oral doses of 40 mg propranolol, 700 mg (−)-INPEA and 700 mg (+)-INPEA decreased supine systolic as well as standing systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Single intravenous doses of 75 mg (−)-INPEA and 75 mg (+)-INPEA lowered supine systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The antihypertensive action of the beta adrenergic blocking levorotatory isomer of INPEA and of the dextrorotatory isomer, which is devoid of beta adrenergic blocking activity, did not differ. Summary The data reported in the present paper refer to quantitative variations of plasma renin activity and plasma aldosterone levels after administration of alpha-blocking agents, i.e. phentolamine, phenoxybenzamine and gihydroergotoxin derivatives, either to rats kept on a standard diet with water ad libitum or to rats receiving distilled water load, the latter treatment causing an increase of both plasma renin activity and plasma aldosterone levels if compared to control values. In this paper, we present the first results from an investigation performed on nanometric thin pellicles based on carbon nanotubes (CNT) of potential interest for manufacturing large area optical blocking filters to protect soft X-ray detectors in astrophysics space missions. In order to evaluate the effective capability of such materials to block UV/VIS/IR radiation, while being highly transparent in the soft X-rays and strong enough to withstand the severe launch stresses, we have performed a suite of characterization measurements. We have recently demonstrated a remarkable selection of in vitro cultivated, TNP-specific polyclonal T cell lines for the expression of a TCR beta chain encoded by the V beta 8.2 gene. The goal of the present study was to analyse V alpha usage in V beta 8.2 T cells responsive to TNP, using TNP-specific T cell lines derived from three common strains of mice, as well as from V beta 8.2 transgenic mice. Results indicate that in vitro TNP stimulation of T cells from TNP-immune mice results in significant skewing of V alpha usage among responding V beta 8.2+ T cells, with overexpression observed for V alpha 3.2 and V alpha 8. Thin filters and gas-tight windows are used in space to protect sensitive X-ray detectors from out-of-band electromagnetic radiation, low-energy particles, and molecular contamination. Though very thin and made of light materials, filters are not fully transparent to X-rays. For this reason, they ultimately define the detector quantum efficiency at low energies.
