Femoral Versus Radial Artery Access for CTO PCIs: Is This the Final Round?
2022
Historically, cardiac catheterization has been performed via transfemoral access (TFA). Although TFA remains necessary in multiple diagnostic and interventional settings, this technique has been associated with vascular access site complication rates ranging from 2% to 6%, prolonged hospital stay, and more deaths compared with radial artery access. Furthermore, safe utilization of the femoral artery can be compromised by abdominal obesity, atherosclerosis at the puncture site, and antithrombotic therapy, all which increase the bleeding risk.1 In the last decade, transradial artery access (TRA) emerged as the recommended approach for percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), particularly in…
Probabilistic Logic under Coherence: Complexity and Algorithms
2005
In previous work [V. Biazzo, A. Gilio, T. Lukasiewicz and G. Sanfilippo, Probabilistic logic under coherence, model-theoretic probabilistic logic, and default reasoning in System P, Journal of Applied Non-Classical Logics 12(2) (2002) 189---213.], we have explored the relationship between probabilistic reasoning under coherence and model-theoretic probabilistic reasoning. In particular, we have shown that the notions of g-coherence and of g-coherent entailment in probabilistic reasoning under coherence can be expressed by combining notions in model-theoretic probabilistic reasoning with concepts from default reasoning. In this paper, we continue this line of research. Based on the above sem…

SIRM–SIC appropriateness criteria for the use of Cardiac Computed Tomography. Part 1: Congenital heart diseases, primary prevention, risk assessment …
2021
AbstractIn the past 20 years, Cardiac Computed Tomography (CCT) has become a pivotal technique for the noninvasive diagnostic work-up of coronary and cardiac diseases. Continuous technical and methodological improvements, combined with fast growing scientific evidence, have progressively expanded the clinical role of CCT. Recent large multicenter randomized clinical trials documented the high prognostic value of CCT and its capability to increase the cost-effectiveness of the management of patients with suspected CAD. In the meantime, CCT, initially perceived as a simple non-invasive technique for studying coronary anatomy, has transformed into a multiparametric “one-stop-shop” approach abl…
