Colectomie droite par abord robotique. Recommandations formalisées d’experts sous l’égide de l’Association française de chirurgie (AFC)
2022
Twenty-seven experts under the aegis of the French Association of Surgery (AFC) offer this reference system with formalized recommendations concerning the performance of right colectomy by robotic approach (RRC). For RRC, experts suggest patient installation in the so-called “classic” or “suprapubic” setup. For patients undergoing right colectomy for a benign pathology or cancer, RRC provides no significant benefit in terms of intra-operative blood loss, intra-operative complications or conversion rate to open laparotomy compared to laparoscopy. At the same time, RRC is associated with significantly longer operating times. Data from the literature are insufficient to define whether the robo…
In vitro antitumor effects of the cold-water extracts of Pleurotus eryngii var ferulae and Pleurotus nebrodensis on human colon cancer cells
2013
For centuries, mushrooms have been used as folk medicines especially in Asian countries where their medicinal properties are well known. On the basis of numerous experimental evidences collected in the last decades, the immunomodulatory and anti-neoplastic properties of substances extracted from various species belonging to genera of edible mushrooms [Agaricus L., Auricularia Bull. ex Juss., Ganoderma P. Karst., Grifola Gray, Lentinus Fr., Schizophyllum Fr., Tremella Dill ex L., etc.] are extensively recognized also at scientific levels. Several works have demonstrate that anti-cancer property of these molecules is due to their ability to enhance immune system activity and/or to act directl…
Ciprofloxacin Polymers Derived from Diallyltin and Divinyltin Dihalides
2008
The initial synthesis of condensation polymers from newly available divinyltin dichloride and diallyltin dichloride and ciprofloxacin is accomplished employing a modified interfacial polycondensation process. The polymeric (DP are about 2,000) products are rapidly (less than 15 seconds) formed in good yield. Infrared spectroscopy shows the formation of Sn-O and Sn-N bonds as predicted from the proposed structure. F-MALDI MS also shows ion fragments containing organotin in the predicted isotopic abundances as well as ion fragments containing both organotin and ciprofloxacin. The polymers exhibit low toxicity towards healthy WI-38 cells with variable toxicities towards a variety of cancer cel…

COLORECTAL CANCER AND INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASES: EFFECTS ON DIET AND ANTIOXIDANTS
2017
It is well established that oxidative stress is common in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs). Accordingly, antioxidants are recommended for treatment. The aim of this study is to compare the effects of antioxidants contained in the various types of tea on symptoms and evolution of IBD and colorectal cancer (CRC). Analysis of the literature revealed that the theaflavin-3, 30-digallate (TFDG) contained in black tea, and epigallocatechin-3-O-gallate (EGCG) contained in green tea have protective effects against oxidative stress. Moreover, these substances are involved in many biochemical processes responsible for inflammation and proliferation of cancer cells. It is documented that both TFDG an…
DYSBIOSIS, INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE AND COLON CANCER: THERE IS A CORRELATION?
2017
Dysbiosis has been linked to IBD. The intestinal microbiota plays a fundamental role in health and the progression of diseases such as IBD and CRC. Many cancers arise from sites of infection and chronic inflammation. Patients with inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) have an increased risk of 10%-15% developing colorectal cancer. Therefore, a complete understanding of the composition and function of the gut microbiota is critical.
Inhibition of Cancer Derived Cell Lines Proliferation by Synthesized Hydroxylated Stilbenes and New Ferrocenyl-Stilbene Analogs. Comparison with Resv…
2014
Further advances in understanding the mechanism of action of resveratrol and its application require new analogs to identify the structural determinants for the cell proliferation inhibition potency. Therefore, we synthesized new trans-resveratrol derivatives by using the Wittig and Heck methods, thus modifying the hydroxylation and methoxylation patterns of the parent molecule. Moreover, we also synthesized new ferrocenylstilbene analogs by using an original protective group in the Wittig procedure. By performing cell proliferation assays we observed that the resveratrol derivatives show inhibition on the human colorectal tumor SW480 cell line. On the other hand, cell viability/cytotoxicit…
Triterpenoid saponins from Hydrocotyle bonariensis Lam
2011
Abstract Phytochemical investigation of the under-ground parts of Hydrocotyle bonariensis led to the isolation of five oleanane-type triterpenoid saponins, 3- O -{β- d -glucopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-[α- l -arabinopyranosyl-(1 → 3)]-β- d -glucuronopyranosyl}-21- O -(2-methylbutyroyl)-22- O -acetyl-R 1 -barrigenol, 3- O -{β- d -glucopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-[α- l -arabinopyranosyl-(1 → 3)]-β- d -glucuronopyranosyl}-21- O -(2-methylbutyroyl)-28- O -acetyl-R 1 -barrigenol, 3- O -{β- d -glucopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-[α- l -arabinopyranosyl-(1 → 3)]-β- d -glucuronopyranosyl}-21- O -acetyl-R 1 -barrigenol, 3- O -{β- d -glucopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-[α- l -arabinopyranosyl-(1 → 3)]-β- d -glucuronopyranosyl}-R 1 -barrigenol, a…
Ethanol promotes survival and tumor progression of colon cancer cells
2018
In the Western Countries, colon cancer is the third tumor for aggressiveness and incidence after lung and breast/prostate cancer. Different risk factors concur to the development of colon cancer, including genetic factors, inflammation, intestinal microflora composition, as well as lifestyle. Epidemiologic studies correlating alcohol consumption and assert that the risks are 5-fold higher among drinkers compared to nondrinkers. However, the exact mechanisms correlating heavy alcohol drinking and colon cancer are not completely elucidated yet. To shed light on the biochemical mechanisms through which alcohol favors colon cancer progression, we evaluated the effect of high doses of ethanol (1…
Three New Medicagenic Acid Saponins from Polygala micranthaGuill. & Perr.
2011
Three new medicagenic acid saponins, micranthosides A–C (1–3), were isolated from the roots of Polygala micranthaGuill. & Perr., along with six known presenegenin saponins. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive 1D- and 2D-NMR experiments (1H, 13C, DEPT, COSY, TOCSY, NOESY, HSQC, and HMBC) and mass spectrometry as 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosylmedicagenic acid 28-[O-β-D-galactopyranosyl-(14)-O-β-D-xylopyranosyl-(14)-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(12)-β-D-fucopyranosyl] ester (1), 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosylmedicagenic acid 28-[O-6-O-acetyl-β-D-galactopyranosyl-(14)-O-β-D-xylopyranosyl-(14)-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(12)-β-D-fucopyranosyl] ester (2), and 3-O-{O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(13)-O-[β-D-gluc…
