European Economic Ethics Research

2020

The purpose of the European Economic Community’s founders was not only ‘mercantilist’, but ‘economic’, in the broader sense of the term ‘economics’. If there has been a specific model of Europe, it has been the social market economy. But the crisis of the welfare state has raised doubts about key features of that model. Does Europe have anything particular to offer in the economic realm? The approaches of economic ethics that have been developed in Europe have a lot to say in the formation of a ‘Euroethos’. The article tries to show the main European approaches and to delineate the traits of a European proposal.

Diritto d’asilo. Accessibilità e riciclo dell’ex Asilo Biondo a Danisinni, Palermo

2022

There are many virtuous initiatives, national and international, which, starting from school buildings, have aimed at redeveloping some degraded urban spaces through paths aimed at increasing civic sense and social and environmental sensitivity in pupils, parents and citizens. . Reopening schools in neighborhoods characterized by a high school dropout was the goal of the research aimed at making accessible the paths and spaces in school buildings and starting urban and architectural recycling projects in waiting places. The research thus proposed field work in opposition to an ongoing process carried out by the municipal administration of Palermo which identified precisely in obsolete or ab…

Abitare la transizione nei Centri minori in Sicilia

2023

The proposal aims to develop concrete experience on possible ways of living from a framework of national and international references on the theme of the Social Housing Community to define a specific methodology on strategies to be tested on the theme of residence temporary in small towns in Sicily. The provision of minimum and adequate space for short and long periods of welcome is thus intended for new temporary residents (returning young people, migrant families, the elderly, travellers in transit) which can also be used to meet the needs of migrants, under the public direction of the municipal administration. The issue of residency is back in the disciplinary debate after the health eme…

Impact of inoculation with the phytostimulatory PGPR Azospirillum lipoferum CRT1 on the genetic structure of the rhizobacterial community of field-gr…

2009

International audience; The phytostimulatory PGPR Azospirillum lipoferum CRT1 was inoculated to maize seeds and the impact on the genetic structure of the rhizobacterial community in the field was determined during maize growth by Automated Ribosomal Intergenic Spacer Analysis (ARISA) of rhizosphere DNA extracts. ARISA fingerprints could differ from one plant to the next as well as from one sampling to the next. Inoculation with strain CRT1 enhanced plant-to-plant variability of the ARISA fingerprints and caused a statistically significant shift in the composition of the indigenous rhizobacterial community at the first two samplings. This is the first study on the ecological impact of Azosp…

Ecological Analysis of the Helminth Community of Microtus lusitanicus (Gerbe, 1879) (Rodentia) in Asturias (NW Spain)

2021

Simple Summary The Lusitanian pine vole is an endemic rodent of the Iberian Peninsula, which has a burrowing behaviour and prefers to live underground. It feeds on bark and roots causing severe damage to trees. In Asturias (NW Spain), this species is considered a pest causing economic losses in apple orchards, damaging the tree, and sometimes even causing its death. With the aim to shed light on the helminth community of this rodent pest species and to elucidate which intrinsic and extrinsic factors affect its helminth species, a faunistic-ecological study was carried out. For this purpose, our own collection of 710 voles from several orchards of various locations in Asturias was used. The …

The Story of Aggressive and Violent Peasant Elites in the North

2016

All over early modern Fennoscandia—in the areas of modern-day Norway, Sweden, and Finland—there were peasants who occupied wealthy farmsteads, held positions of trust, and had kinship networks with members of higher status groups such as local priests and state officials, burghers, and other gentry. Even though they served as a link between the rest of the peasantry and the state authorities, it is evident that early modern peasant resistance was also often led by the wealthy. There is abundant evidence in court records that these respected and leading members of the local community could practically terrorise their neighbourhood with violence and aggression. Why was there this seeming cont…
