Il cedro dell’Atlante [Cedrus atlantica (ENDL.) MANETTI EX CARRIÈRE], introdotto in Europa come pianta ornamentale, ha trovato largo impiego nei rimboschimenti in Francia, Spagna e Portogallo, mentre in Italia la sua diffusione è stata più recente e a oggi interessa oltre 2600 ettari, dimostrando ottime potenzialità, senza comportamenti invasivi. In Sicilia, benché poco diffusa, la specie sembra avere potenzialità di adattamento e di produzione interessanti. The esophagus carcinoma has an incidence rate of 3–4 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, per year, with a male/female ratio of 3:1 and with a low incidence between the VI–VII decade of life. In Italy, the incidence rate equals 2,000 new cases/year with a mortality rate of 3–5/100,000 inhabitants.

An 1076 chirurgischen und internistischen Abteilung in der BRD (West) wurde eine Umfrage zur Behandlung der Osophagusvarizenblutung durchgefuhrt. Es uberwiegt die Akutsklerosierung bzw. die Ballonsondenbehandlung mit nachfolgender Sklerosierung bei der aktiven Blutung. Die abdominelle Sperroperation wird bei der konservativ nicht stillbaren Blutung noch vor dem portokavalen Notshunt bevorzugt. Betablocker werden vor allem in internistischen Abteilungen zur Rezidivprophylaxe eingesetzt. Erst nach mehrfacher Rezidivblutung trotz Sklerosierung sehen etwa die Halfte der Abteilungen eine Indikation zum elektiven Shunt. INTRODUCTION The positive success rate of cardiomyotomy in the treatment of achalasia has recently - especially in young patients - resulted in a primary operative treatment concept. Few studies of long-term effects of myotomy concerning the removal of dysphagia and the development of gastroesophageal reflux have been submitted. Background Traditional surveillance in patients with Barrett's esophagus (BE) has relied on random biopsies. Targeted biopsies that use advanced imaging modalities may significantly improve detection of specialized columnar epithelium (SCE). Objective We compared the efficacy of targeted biopsies that used i -scan or acetic acid to random biopsies in the detection of SCE.
