Topical anti-inflammatory potential of quercetin in lipid-based nanosystems: In vivo and in vitro evaluation

Purpose: To develop quercetin-loaded phospholipid vesicles, namely liposomes and PEVs (Penetration Enhancer-containing Vesicles), and to investigate their efficacy on TPA-induced skin inflammation. Methods: Vesicles were made from a mixture of phospholipids, quercetin and polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG), specifically added to increase drug solubility and penetration through the skin. Vesicle morphology and self-assembly were probed by Cryo-Transmission Electron Microscopy and Small/Wide Angle X-ray Scattering, as well as the main physico-chemical features by Light Scattering. Clinical evaluation of automated capillary refill time estimation in dogs and cats

In this study, we clinically evaluated a pulse oximeter-based device for automated capillary refill time (CRT) estimation in dogs and cats. CRT can reveal conditions like shock or anemia in dogs and cats. However, visual CRT estimation has low repeatability, and the available optical systems for automated estimation are not suitable for pets. We evaluated a custom-made portable CRT measuring device on various measurement sites of 12 dogs and 11 cats with parallel visual CRT estimation on the gum by treating veterinarian. Abstract Recently, it has been shown by overnight driving simulation studies that microsleep density is the only known sleepiness indicator which rapidly increases within a few seconds immediately before sleepiness related crashes. This indicator is based solely on EEG and EOG and subsequent adaptive pattern recognition. Accurate microsleep recognition is very important for the performance of this sleepiness indicator. The contribution deals with the theme of the dry stone walls’ landscape which characterizes the rural “Koinè” of the Hyblean plateau in South-Eastern Sicily. The essay analyses the main political-economic, social-territorial, constructive and typological features which make the dry walls network the landmark of the Ragusa province. Because of the modification of the economic-cultural context that produced it, the loss of knowledge of the construction techniques and the lack of public resources, the definition of an axiology of the contemporary landscape as premise for the establishment of adequate terms of value for the safeguard of this heritage is required.
