Pyrazolo[3,4-d][1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine: a new ring system through Dimroth rearrangement

Abstract Derivatives of the new ring system pyrazolo[3,4- d ][1,2,3]triazolo[1,5- a ]pyrimidine were synthesized from the corresponding angular isomers, through a Dimroth rearrangement, in quantitative yields. Preliminary computational studies demonstrated that this class of compounds could be a good candidate as DNA intercalating agents.

Cleaner fish escape salmon farms and hybridize with local wrasse populations

The genetic impact of farmed fish escaping aquaculture is a highly debated issue. However, non-target species, such as cleaner fish used to remove sea lice from farmed fish, are rarely considered. Here, we report that wild corkwing wrasse (Symphodus melops), which are transported long distances to be used as cleaner fish in salmon farms, escape and hybridize with local populations. Recently, increasing numbers of corkwing wrasse have been reported in Flatanger in Norway, north of its described distribution range, an area heavily relying on the import of cleaner fish from Skagerrak. Synthesis and anti-HIV activity of 2,3-diaryl-1,3-thiazolidin-4-(thi)one derivatives.

Several 2,3-diaryl-1,3-thiazolidine-4-thione derivatives and 2,3-diaryl-1,3-thiazolidin-4-ones bearing a methyl group at C-5 position have been synthesized and tested as anti-HIV agents. The results of the in vitro tests showed that some of them proved to be effective inhibitors of HIV-1 replication.

2-cinnamamido, 2-(3-phenylpropiolamido) and 2-(3-phenylpropanamido)benzamides: synthesis, antiproliferative activity and mechanism of action

Several new 2-cinnamamido, 2-(3-phenylpropiolamido) and 2-(3-phenylpropanamido)benzamides were synthesized by stirring in pyridine the opportune acid chlorides with the appropriate anthranilamide derivatives. Some of the synthesized compounds were evaluated for their in vitro antiproliferative activity against a panel of 5 human cell lines (K562 human chronic myelogenous leukemia cells, MCF-7 breast cancer cells, HTC-116 and HT26 colon cancer cells and NCI H460 non-small cell lung cancer cells).

Abstract Rural development related to agriculture can roughly be divided into two trajectories: 1) agri-industrial development or modernisation, and 2) multifunctional or even post-productivist rural development. The role of these trajectories varies in different rural settings, with different emphases on agricultural production and its conduct. At the farm level, the trajectories evolve from existing farming practices and their connections, which enable or disable different kinds of development.
