Isomerization of C5–C7 n-alkanes on unidirectional large pore zeolites: activity, selectivity and adsorption features
2001
Abstract The hydroisomerization–hydrocracking of nC5–nC7 is studied with a 12MR unidirectional zeolite (ITQ-4). Selectivity and kinetic parameters indicate that differences in pore topology are more important than acidity for determining isomerization selectivity. The adsorption of the paraffins is determined by van der Waals interactions.
Monolayers of asymmetrical diethylalkanoat disulfides on gold(111):.the influence of chain length difference on atomic force microscope images
1998
Several symmetrical and asymmetrical long-chain diethylalkanoat disulfides were synthesized and character- ized. The differences in the chain lengths of the disul- fides ranged between zero and five methylene units. Self- assembled monolayers of these disulfides formed on Au(111) surfaces were studied by atomic force microscopy (AFM) in order to obtain information about the origin of the image contrast. Domains with hexagonal lattices (lattice constants 5:2- 5:3 A) were detected for all derivatives, independent of the chain length differences. This indicates that the contrast arises roughly at a depth of 4- 8 A in the monolayers at imag- ing forces between 0: 2a nd 3n N. For SAMs of diethyl…
Technical standards in allergen exposure chambers worldwide - an EAACI Task Force Report
2021
Allergen exposure chambers (AECs) can be used for controlled exposure to allergenic and non-allergenic airborne particles in an enclosed environment, in order to (i) characterize the pathological features of respiratory diseases and (ii) contribute to and accelerate the clinical development of pharmacological treatments and allergen immunotherapy for allergic disease of the respiratory tract (such as allergic rhinitis, allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, and allergic asthma). In the guidelines of the European Medicines Agency for the clinical development of products for allergen immunotherapy (AIT), the role of AECs in determining primary endpoints in dose-finding Phase II trials is emphasized. A…
Nasal IgE in subjects with allergic and non-allergic rhinitis
2020
Abstract Purpose The prevalence of "ocal allergic rhinitis" within individuals suffering from perennial rhinitis remains uncertain, and patients usually are diagnosed with non-allergic rhinitis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of a potential "local allergic rhinitis" in subjects suffering from non-allergic rhinitis in a non-selected group of young students. Methods 131 students (age 25.0 ± 5.1 years) with a possible allergic rhinitis and 25 non-allergic controls without rhinitis symptoms (age 22.0 ± 2.0 years) were recruited by public postings. 97 of 131 students with rhinitis were tested positive (≥3 mm) to prick testing with 17 frequent allergens at visit 1. Twenty-fo…
Diastereoselective synthesis of antiquorin and related polyoxygenated atisene-type diterpenes
2007
Abstract A diastereoselective approach to polyoxygenated atisene-type diterpenes starting from (S)-(+)-carvone is described. The key steps used in the preparation of the atisene framework are an intramolecular Diels–Alder reaction, an intramolecular diazoketone cyclopropanation, an endocyclic cyclopropane ring cleavage and the regioselective reduction of an allylic bromide by a low-valent chromium species. The synthesis of natural atisanes antiquorin (1), atis-16-ene-3,14-dione (3), atis-16-ene-2,3,14-trione (8) and 3β-hydroxy-atis-16-ene-2,14-dione (9) following this approach is presented. Also described is the synthesis of 18-hydroxy-atis-16-ene-3,14-dione (5), the structure erroneously a…
Mechanism of oxidative allyl transfer from allylic ammonium cations to palladium(0) α-diimine complexes
1996
Abstract The palladium(0) complex [Pd(η2-fn)(NN′)] (1, fn = fumaronitrile; NN′ = C5H4N-2-CH=NC6H4OME-4) reacts slowly and reversibly with A + CH 2 CH=CH 2 (2a, A = NEt 3 ; 2 b , A = C 5 H 5 N ) to yield the cationic η3-allypalladium(II) derivative [ Pd (η[ 3 - C 3 H 5 )( N N ′)] + (3) the free amine A and fn. The equilibrium constant Ke is (2.6 ± 0.1) × 10−3 for 2a and 1.0 ± 0.4 for 2b. Kinetic studies of these oxidative allyl-transfer reactions show that the rates increase with increasing concentration of 2 and with decreasing concentration of fn. A stepwise mechanism is proposed which involves slow and reversible displacement of fn by 2 to give a labile intermediate [ Pd (η 2 - CH…
Gold catalyzed stereoselective tandem hydroamination–formal aza-Diels–Alder reaction of propargylic amino esters
2013
A gold-catalyzed tandem intramolecular hydroamination-formal aza-Diels-Alder reaction of propargylic amino esters is described. The overall process leads to the formation of a tetracyclic framework as a single diastereoisomer, with the creation of four bonds and five stereocenters.
Optical and amplified spontaneous emission of neat films containing 2-cyanoacetic derivatives
2018
During the last two decades, small organic molecules have been widely studied for potential applications in organic solid-state lasers due to low-cost production, simple processing possibility and physical property tuning ability through chemical structure synthetic modifications. One of the most investigated and applied compound in dye lasers is 4- (dicyanomethylene)-2-methyl-6-(4-dimethylaminostyryl)-4H-pyran (DCM). It has shown remarkable properties as a dye in solid-state lasers. One of the drawbacks of this compound is high intermolecular interactions which reduce emission efficiency. Therefore it can be applied only in doped systems in low concentration (around 2 wt%). Recently we hav…
Amyloid Fibrils Formation of Concanavalin A at Basic pH
2011
Mechanisms of partial unfolding and aggregation of proteins are of extreme interest in view of the fact that several human pathologies are characterized by the formation and deposition of protein-insoluble material, mainly composed of amyloid fibrils. Here we report on an experimental study on the heat-induced aggregation mechanisms, at basic pH, of concanavalin A (ConA), used as a model system. Thioflavin T (ThT) fluorescence and multiangle light scattering allowed us to detect different intertwined steps in the formation of ConA aggregates. In particular, the ThT fluorescence increase, observed in the first phase of aggregation, reveals the formation of intermolecular β-sheet structure wh…
