Fourier series for elliptic integrals and some generalizations via hypergeometric series

2008

Fourier series are derived for generalizations of the three canonical Legendre incomplete elliptic integrals using a hypergeometric series approach. The Fourier series for the incomplete Epstein–Hubbell integrals are obtained as special cases of the generalization of the Legendre integrals of the first and second kinds. The Fourier series for the integrals of the first and second kinds, and those for the Epstein–Hubbell integrals, were obtained recently using a different approach, but the series obtained for the generalization of the incomplete integral of the third kind is new. All cases of the integral of the third kind are given, with the modulus and the parameter being complex variables…

Inulin-Ethylenediamine Coated SPIONs Magnetoplexes: A Promising Tool for Improving siRNA Delivery.

2015

An inulin based polycation (Inu-EDA) has been synthesized by the grafting of ethylenediamine molecules onto inulin backbone. The obtained inulin copolymer has been though to coat SPIONs (IC-SPIONs) and obtain stable magnetoplexes by complexation of IC-SPIONs with a model duplexed siRNA, for improving oligonucleotide transfection efficiency. The physical-chemical characteristics of IC-SPIONs and IC-SPIONs/siRNA magnetoplexes have been investigated by scanning and transmission electron microscopies, dynamic light scattering, FT-IR and qualitative surface elementary analysis. Cell compatibility and internalization in vitro of IC-SPIONs have been evaluated by MTS and fluorescence microscopy resp…

3D spectral imaging with synchrotron Fourier transform infrared spectro-microtomography

2013

We report Fourier transform infrared spectro-microtomography, a nondestructive three-dimensional imaging approach that reveals the distribution of distinctive chemical compositions throughout an intact biological or materials sample. The method combines mid-infrared absorption contrast with computed tomographic data acquisition and reconstruction to enhance chemical and morphological localization by determining a complete infrared spectrum for every voxel (millions of spectra determined per sample).

Making Broad Proteome Protein Measurements in 1−5 min Using High-Speed RPLC Separations and High-Accuracy Mass Measurements

2005

The throughput of proteomics measurements that provide broad protein coverage is limited by the quality and speed of both the separations as well as the subsequent mass spectrometric analysis; at present, analysis times can range anywhere from hours (high throughput) to days or longer (low throughput). We have explored the basis for proteomics analyses conducted on the order of minutes using high-speed capillary RPLC combined through on-line electrospray ionization interface with high-accuracy mass spectrometry (MS) measurements. Short 0.8-microm porous C18 particle-packed 50-microm-i.d. capillaries were used to speed the RPLC separations while still providing high-quality separations. Both…

ChemInform Abstract: Coupled Semiconductor Systems for Photocatalysis. Preparation and Characterization of Polycrystalline Mixed WO3/WS2 Powders.

2010

Mixed WO3/WS2 powders were prepared by oxidation of WS2. The physical properties of the samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy; they were strongly dependent upon the time and temperature of oxidation. The chemical state and the elemental distribution of the sample surface were investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The photocatalytic results have showed that the aqueous suspensions of the mixed WO3/WS2 systems have significantly higher activities than pure WS2 and WO3 for the photodegradation of phenol. The enhanced performance can be related to the presence of heterojunctions WO3/WS2 on the single parti…

Clean method for the simultaneous determination of propyphenazone and caffeine in pharmaceuticals by flow injection Fourier transform infrared spectr…

1997

A procedure is proposed for the simultaneous FTIR determination of propyphenazone (PFZ) and caffeine (CAF) in pharmaceuticals. The method involves the dissolution of the active principles in CHCl 3 , followed by filtration of sample solutions to remove the excipients. PFZ is then determined by absorbance measurements at 1595 cm - 1 , using a baseline established between 2000 and 890 cm - 1 , and CAF by using the first-derivative values at 1712 cm - 1 , using solutions of PFZ and CAF for external calibration. The method was applied in both the stopped-flow and flow-injection modes, providing precise and accurate results for the analysis of real samples. The incorporation of a distillation un…

Using ATR-FTIR Spectroscopy To Design Active Antimicrobial Food Packaging Structures Based on High Molecular Weight Chitosan Polysaccharide

2007

ATR-FTIR spectroscopy has been used in this study to characterize the molecular mechanisms and kinetic processes that take place when a chitosonium acetate thin coating is put in contact with water solutions, Staphylococcus aureus solutions, microbial nutrient solutions, and with a high water activity TSA hydrogel medium to simulate the effect of direct contact with high moisture foods such as fresh meats, fish, and seafood products or beverages. The results of this work suggest that the biocide carboxylate groups that form when chitosan is cast from acetic acid solutions are being continuously evaporated from the formed film in the form of acetic acid (mechanism I) in the presence of envir…

Biogenic synthesis of palladium nanoparticles using Pulicaria glutinosa extract and their catalytic activity towards the Suzuki coupling reaction.

2014

Green synthesis of nanomaterials finds the edge over chemical methods due to its environmental compatibility. Herein, we report a facile and eco-friendly method for the synthesis of palladium (Pd) nanoparticles (NPs) using an aqueous solution of Pulicaria glutinosa, a plant widely found in a large region of Saudi Arabia, as a bioreductant. The as-prepared Pd NPs were characterized using ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The hydroxyl groups of the plant extract (PE) molecules were found mainly responsible for the red…

Application of point-to-point matching algorithms for background correction in on-line liquid chromatography–Fourier transform infrared spectrometry …

2009

A new background correction method for the on-line coupling of gradient liquid chromatography and Fourier transform infrared spectrometry has been developed. It is based on the use of a point-to-point matching algorithm that compares the absorption spectra of the sample data set with those of a previously recorded reference data set in order to select an appropriate reference spectrum. The spectral range used for the point-to-point comparison is selected with minimal user-interaction, thus facilitating considerably the application of the whole method. The background correction method has been successfully tested on a chromatographic separation of four nitrophenols running acetonitrile (0.08…

Partial least squares attenuated total reflectance IR spectroscopy versus chromatography: the greener method

2012

Method election is a complex task that must be done carefully in order to ensure the capability of analytical methodologies to provide appropriate data for problem solving. This is a real challenge in all fields, but especially with bioanalysis, which in many cases involves the need to do a large number of determinations in complex
