Liver X receptor activation promotes polyunsaturated fatty acid synthesis in macrophages : relevance in the context of atherosclerosis

Objective— Liver X receptors (LXRs) modulate cholesterol and fatty acid homeostasis as well as inflammation. This study aims to decipher the role of LXRs in the regulation of polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) synthesis in macrophages in the context of atherosclerosis. Approach and Results— Transcriptomic analysis in human monocytes and macrophages was used to identify putative LXR target genes among enzymes involved in PUFA biosynthesis. In parallel, the consequences of LXR activation or LXR invalidation on PUFA synthesis and distribution were determined. Automation can now be found in nearly every industry. However, home automation has yet to reach Pakistan. This paper presents an Internet of Things smart kitchen project that includes automation and monitoring. In this project, a system was developed that automatically detects the kitchen temperature. It also monitors the humidity level in the kitchen. This system includes built-in gas detection sensors that detect any gas leaks in the kitchen and notify the user if the gas pressure in the kitchen exceeds a certain level. Objectives: The aim of this study was to report preplanned secondary analyses of the effects of a 12-month individualized active aging counseling intervention on six mobility and physical activity outcomes. Methods: A two-arm, single-blinded randomized controlled trial was conducted among 75- and 80-year-old community-dwelling people. The intervention group (IG, n = 101) received counseling aimed at increasing self-selected, primarily out-of-home activity. The control group (CG, n = 103) received general health information. Abstract –  Objective:  This study explored oral health counselling concerning changes of oral hygiene habits in 11- to 13-year-old schoolchildren within a theoretical framework of the transtheoretical model and the motivational interview. Methods:  The follow-up data (2002–2003) formed two sequential parts: the first part comprised 66 counselling sessions in 2002; the second part included 31 counselling sessions in 2003. Porifera [sponges] represent the lowest metazoan phylum, probably already existing prior to the 'Cambrian explosion'. Based on amino acid sequences deduced from cDNAs that code for structural proteins, the monophyly of Metazoa was established. Now we analyzed for the first time a promoter of a sponge gene for its activity in a heterologous cell system from higher Metazoa. The promoter of the homeobox gene EmH-3 was cloned and sequenced from a genomic library of the freshwater sponge Ephydatia muelleri.
