Coordinated Interpersonal Behaviour in Collective Dance Improvisation: The Aesthetics of Kinaesthetic Togetherness

2018

International audience; Collective dance improvisation (e.g., traditional and social dancing, contact improvisation) is a participatory, relational and embodied art form which eschews standard concepts in aesthetics. We present our ongoing research into the mechanisms underlying the lived experience of "togetherness" associated with such practices. Togetherness in collective dance improvisation is kinaesthetic (based on movement and its perception), and so can be simultaneously addressed from the perspective of the performers and the spectators, and be measured. We utilise these multiple levels of description: the first-person, phenomenological level of personal experiences, the third-perso…

Abstrac…

Architettura in alzato. Questioni di territorio, paesaggio, ambiente

2021

Denied to typology Southern architecture in the essay recognizes a specific identity and perfect exceptionality in the essence of the place. If the facade establishes a relationship with the aesthetics of the landscape the underlying themes define other significant relationships. The logical ordering of the members the geometric clarity and the rigor of the relationships refer to an architecture that is measured and is a measure itself of the territory and its morphology. In turn the thickness of the facade expresses the relationship with the environment and interprets the climatic conditions in a poetic way intervening on the control of light on the voids in the wall faces on the determination of the shadow. In this way facade-proportion-thickness with the corresponding terms of landscape-territory-environment relationship define a double triad attributable to patterns and features typical of southern Italy and which however also belong to other southern Europe.Settore ICAR/14 - Composizione Architettonica E Urbana

In-group favouritism and out-group derogation towards national groups: Age-related differences among Italian school children

2013

Abstract Recently many researchers investigated intergroup attitudes among children, but only few studies analyzed developmental pathways of in-group favouritism and out-group derogation in considerable samples across broad age ranges. The present study aims at examining age-related differences in in-group favouritism and out-group derogation towards national groups among Italian children. Six hundred-seven children (305 males, 302 females), aged 6–12 living in Italy, were asked to answer an individual interview, making various evaluations of the national in-group and of 2 salient national out-groups (German and English). For research purposes 3 measures were used: number of positive traits…

Appunti sul design meridiano

2020

Italian design was a wonderful adventure. But, since some time, it seems that we got complacent. The social-economic contest of Country is not anymore what it used to be. Therefore, design must be renewed, if we want to contribute to the project of a better world. This process – because design is a process – cannot be realised outside our history and what we are. We need to leverage on the culture of project, on our better and yet effective traditions, in order to provide fresh vitality and energy. We cannot build on nothing. We must innovate, defile and evolve without prejudice. That is why we need a starting point, a solid point of reference, full of material culture: South

Design e cibo tra cultura e identità

2017

The paper proposes the cultural aspects of food and the relationship between design and food. Reflections are articulated on how food represents the identity of a people and how food is a vehicle for conservation, innovation and socialization. The cultural aspects of food are many: food tells the story of the territory and its products, the rituals and the symbols of the gastronomic tradition. Today, food in a territory also becomes an expression of values to be promoted and design can bring new opportunities. The design culture, using its tools, starts a virtuous cycle between product and territory and can carry out the regeneration of the territory and the sustainable development of econo…

¿Es posible ser moralmente responsable? Notas para una nueva definición del concepto de sujeto

2006

The Strawson´s Basic Argument is the stronger against moral responsibility in Philosophy of action. One should be responsible of his identity to be moral responsible of his actions, but then nobody could be never responsible. In this article I criticize orthodox solutions to Strawson´s sceptical challenge and show how they share with the Argument the same theological notion of monadical agent. A new solution needs a new conception of agent..

The Concept of Civility and Law

2017

From Hobbes on, the concept of law-making was strongly associated with the needs of creating a third-object (dialectics) that can control force and violence. The same concept of law and violence, which is historically associated with the Occident, paved the way for the creation of borders. By studying the legacy of Foucault and R. Castel and the contribution of sociological thinking, in this chapter we will dissect the roots of national identity and the evolution of security. While industrialism emancipated medieval peasants from their attachment to the soil, a great process of urbanization produced slums and ghettos in. Against this back drop, a new concept of civility erected a barrier be…

Italian Heroines: Literature, Gender, and the Construction of the Nation

2019

Scholarship on Italian nationhood has historically focused on heroes rather than on heroines, in line with the established gendered dialectical relationship between the female nation (who nurtures those who fight for her), and the male patriot, who both adores and possesses her. However, it is argued that Italian literary heroines prove at least as productive as heroes, if not more, when it comes to generating alternative views on the nation. This essay offers an introduction to a themed issue that aims to fill this scholarly gap in relation to ideas about the Italian nation and nationhood.
