Gli autori francesi nelle prime due serie della “Biblioteca dell’Economista”

This essay deals with the «Biblioteca dell'Economista», the collection of translated economic texts by Francesco Ferrara. The article examines the role that the editorial series attaches to the French economists and their works. A particular attention is devoted to Ferrara's introductions of books in which the Sicilian scholar analyzes the life and the thought of the authors and compare them to his economic theory and idea of the economist's profession.

DOBLE PRESENCIA O DOBLE RACISMO? INCLUSIÓN Y EXCLUSIÓN DE LOS JÓVENES DE SEGUNDA GENERACIÓN EN ITALIA
2021
The second generations (2G) do not have a static and homogeneous ethnic identity, but multiple and transnational identities. The lack of recognition as citizens and their perceived discrimination and feelings of exclusion often can have backwash on the process of reconstruction of identity and creation of hybrid identity as a synthesis between identity and difference. From the analysis of the interviews with 2G young people, collected in 7 cities in Italy, emerges the constant attempt to assert themselves through the transformation of “double absence” into “double presence” and of their invisibility in visibility. Our paper deals with the different ways of this transition comparing the inte…
L'educazione tra identità sessuale e identità di genere
2017
This essay aims to describe the notions of sexual and gender identity by exploring its educational meanings. It starts by offering definitions to common terms such as sex and gender. In particular, sexual identity is determined by the biological and physical differences between male and female, the biological explanation doesn't allow ample possibility to interpretation or individual choices. On the other hand, gender identity indicates masculinity and femininity as socially devised categories. In some aspect, gender and sex are very different concepts, so that we can suggest that sex is linked to anatomical, biological and physiological characteristics, whereas gender is related to roles a…
Looking back into trans persons’ experiences in heteronormative secondary physical education contexts

ABSTRACTBackground: School is one of the primary settings where non-gender conformer children and adolescents emerge as vulnerable groups at high risk of suffering violence and harassment. Within schooling contexts, embodied experiences in physical education (PE) may become particularly problematic for trans students. The purpose of this paper is to gather memories and impressions of a group of adult trans persons on their experiences in secondary PE.Theoretical framework: The concept of heteronormativity is used as a theoretical framework to provide insights and understanding to trans persons’s experiences in …

The Gender diverse and the Genderless Conceptions of Marriage and Children’s Right to Develop their Sexual Identity
2016
The article is a philosophical analysis of the meaning structure of two competing conceptions of marriage with regard to children’s right to develop their sexual identity. These two conceptions of marriage make different metaphysical assumptions about human nature, which lead to different conceptions about the preconditions of children’s sexual development. The gender diverse conception assumes that human beings are born with a biological sex and they can be integrated persons only when living in terms with it. In order to develop their sexual identity they benefit from male-female interaction within the nuclear family. The genderless conception assumes that children are free to construct t…

Technical Identity in a MergerProcess—Between a Rock and a Hard Place
2020
AbstractUniversity mergers are sites of self-reflection where the identities of the institutions in question are juxtaposed and challenged. We examine the organisational identity of a Finnish single-faculty technical university in the context of a merger process with a comprehensive multi-disciplinary university and a university of applied sciences. Through interview data, we shed light on the self-conception of the technical university compared with the other higher education institutions. According to our analysis, the identity of the technical university is constructed and represented in relation to the aspects of society and entrepreneurialism, academic discipline and, particularly, the…
