Integrating Telemedicine Solutions with Electronic Health Records; Evaluation of Alternatives based on the Proposed Reference Architecture for Norway…
2016
This report studies the way forward for how a telemedicine solution can be integrated for exchange of data with an existing Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. The solution used an example for this report is based on a telemedicine solution for COPD patients (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) developed in the project “Collaborative Point-of-Care Services Agder: Follow-up of COPD patients as part of the United4Health EU Project», with financial support from the Research Council of Norway. In addition, the EHR solution from DIPS ASA is used as an example of an existing system for integration. Important parameters for choosing way forward on how to are: urgency with regards to timeli…
Reflection and Refraction of Singularities for Wave Equations with Interface Conditions given by Fourier Integral Operators
1992
Cauchy problems for hyperbolic operators often have the property, that the singularities of the initial data propagate along the bicharacteristic strips of the operator (cf. e.g. [13]). We consider, in the linear case, the situation where the bicharacteristics hit transversally a spacelike interface, which is ‘active’ in the sense that the interface condition is given via certain Fourier integral operators. Taking the identity, we obtain classical transmission conditions. A suitable functional analytic setting is furnished by the interaction concept [3], [6], [7], which covers very general mutual influences of evolution phenomena on different domains.

Halide perovskite amplifiers integrated in polymer waveguides
2016
Semiconductor organometallic halide perovskites (CH 3 NH 3 PbX 3 , X=Cl, Br, I) (HPVK) have emerged as a new promising material able to improve the optoelectronic technology performance. Although this material has mostly been applied to improve the efficiency of photovoltaic devices, it also shows amazing properties for photonic applications. In particular, HPVK exhibits high photoluminescence (PL) quantum yield (up to 70%) at room temperature together with a tunable band-gap controlled by its chemical composition. In addition, since HPVKs is deposited in solution at room conditions, it can be easily incorporated in different photonic structures to efficiently exploit its emission propertie…
The Peregrine soliton in nonlinear fibre optics
2010
International audience; The Peregrine soliton is a localized nonlinear structure predicted to exist over 25 years ago, but not so far experimentally observed in any physical system. It is of fundamental significance because it is localized in both time and space, and because it defines the limit of a wide class of solutions to the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE). Here, we use an analytic description of NLSE breather propagation to implement experiments in optical fibre generating femtosecond pulses with strong temporal and spatial localization, and near-ideal temporal Peregrine soliton characteristics. In showing that Peregrine soliton characteristics appear with initial conditions th…
Polarization modulation instability in a Manakov fiber system
2015
International audience; The Manakov model is the simplest multicomponent model of nonlinear wave theory: It describes elementary stable soliton propagation and multisoliton solutions, and it applies to nonlinear optics, hydrodynamics, and Bose-Einstein condensates. It is also of fundamental interest as an asymptotic model in the context of the widely used wavelength-division-multiplexed optical fiber transmission systems. However, although its physical relevance was confirmed by the experimental observation of Manakov (vector) solitons in a planar waveguide in 1996, there have in fact been no quantitative experiments confirming its validity for nonlinear dynamics other than soliton formatio…
Peregrine soliton generation and breakup in standard telecommunications fiber
2011
International audience; We present experimental and numerical results showing the generation and breakup of the Peregrine soliton in standard telecommunications fiber. The impact of non-ideal initial conditions is studied through direct cut back measurements of the longitudinal evolution of the emerging soliton dynamics, and is shown to be associated with the splitting of the Peregrine soliton into two subpulses, with each subpulse itself exhibiting Peregrine soliton characteristics. Experimental results are in good agreement with simulations.
Soft proton exchanged channel waveguides in congruent lithium tantalate for frequency doubling
2010
We report on stable optical waveguides fabricated by soft-proton exchange in periodically-poled congruent lithium tantalate in the a-phase. The channel waveguides are characterized in the telecom wavelength range in terms of both linear properties and frequency doubling. The measurements yield a nonlinear coefficient of about 9.5pm/V, demonstrating that the nonlinear optical properties of lithium tantalate are left nearly unaltered by the process.
