Regulated expression and phosphorylation of the 23-26-kDa ras protein in the sponge Geodia cydonium.

1990

We have cloned, sequenced and examined the sponge Geodia cydonium cDNA encoding a protein homologous to ras proteins. The sponge ras protein has a more conserved N-terminal region and a less conserved C-terminal region, especially in comparison to Dictyostelium discoideum; the similarity to human c-Ha-ras-1 and to Saccharomyces cerevisiae is less pronounced. The sponge ras cDNA comprises five TAG triplets; at the translational level these UAG termination codons are suppressed by a Gln-tRNA. The sponge ras protein was isolated and partially purified (23-26 kDa) and found to undergo phosphorylation at a threonine moiety, when dissociated cells were incubated in the presence of a homologous ag…

Gabriella De Marco proposes an essay on the centrality of the library institution in contemporary society. The contribution which takes up some of the author's previous research projects since the early 2000s focuses on living space and the identity potential of a building. The starting point of his reasoning is the assumption that measurable space is also mental space. From this arises a series of considerations related to the relationship between the time of history and the time of the user. Therefore a building specifically a library both public and private both national and local also exists in the subjective time of those who use it.Settore M-STO/08 - Archivistica Bibliografia E BiblioteconomiaSettore L-ART/03 - Storia Dell'Arte Contemporanea

Spanish scientific production in literature through a gender perspective in the Web of Science (1975-2017)

2019

Gender inequality in directive bodies and scientific production on the Ibero-American psychology journals with greater international visibility

2018

Genomic Structure and in Vivo Expression of the Human Organic Anion Transporter 1 (hOAT1) Gene

2000

The human organic anion transporter 1 (hOAT1) plays a key role in the secretion of an array of potentially toxic organic anions including many clinically important drugs. Here we report on the genomic cloning of hOAT1. A human genomic library was used for screening of a PAC (P1 artificial chromosome) clone applying PCR techniques. Sequencing of several restriction subclones and of a PCR-generated clone revealed that the hOAT1 gene spans 8.2 kb and is composed of 10 exons divided by 9 introns. RT-PCR studies in a human kidney specimen led to the detection of two new splice variants, hOAT1-3 and hOAT1-4, showing a 132-bp in-frame deletion. Using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) we ma…

Serological identification and expression analysis of gastric cancer-associated genes

2002

Serological identification of tumour antigens by recombinant expression cloning has proved to be an effective strategy for the identification of cancer-associated genes having a relevance to cancer aetiology and progression, and for defining possible targets for immunotherapeutic intervention. In the present study we applied this technique to identify immunogenic proteins for gastric cancer that resulted in isolation of 14 distinct serum-reactive antigens. In order to evaluate their role in tumourigenesis and assess the immunogenicity of the identified antigens, we characterised each cDNA clone by DNA sequence analysis, mRNA tissue distribution, comparison of mRNA levels in cancerous and ad…

Goodpasture antigen-binding protein, the kinase that phosphorylates the goodpasture antigen, is an alternatively spliced variant implicated in autoim…

2000

The non-collagenous C-terminal domain of the alpha(3) chain of collagen IV is the autoantigen in Goodpasture disease, an autoimmune disorder described only in humans. Specific N-terminal phosphorylation is a biological feature unique to the human domain when compared with other homologous domains lacking immunopathogenic potential. We have recently cloned from a HeLa-derived cDNA library a novel serine/threonine kinase (Goodpasture antigen-binding protein (GPBP)) that phosphorylates the N-terminal region of the human domain (Raya, A. Revert, F, Navarro, S. and Saus J. (1999) J. Biol. Chem. 274, 12642-12649). We show here that the pre-mRNA of GPBP is alternatively spliced in human tissues an…

Different La/SS-B mRNA isoforms are expressed in salivary gland tissue of patients with primary Sjogren's syndrome

1996

Recently we isolated a La/SS-B mRNA isoform from a cDNA library made from peripheral blood lymphocytes of a patient with primary Sjögren's Syndrome. In the La/SS-B mRNA isoform the exon 1 was replaced. The alternative exon was termed exon 1'. Genomic analysis showed that the exon 1' La mRNA was the result of a promoter-switch in combination with alternative splicing. Due to the unusual structure of the exon 1' La/SS-B mRNA, the function and the behaviour under physiological and pathophysiological conditions in tissue of patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome or Systemic Lupus Erythematosus remained obscure. Therefore assays were established allowing a qualitative and quantitative estimati…

Peer review is often criticized for being flawed, subjective and biased, but research into peer review has been hindered by a lack of access to peer review reports. Here we report the results of a study in which text-analysis software was used to determine the linguistic characteristics of 472,449 peer review reports. A range of characteristics (including analytical tone, authenticity, clout, three measures of sentiment, and morality) were studied as a function of reviewer recommendation, area of research, type of peer review and reviewer gender. We found that reviewer recommendation had the biggest impact on the linguistic characteristics of reports, and that area of research, type of peer…

Generation of nonlinear current-voltage characteristics. A general method

2002

International audience; A general method allowing to construct nonlinear resistors with arbitrary current-voltage (I-V) characteristics is proposed. The example of a cubic I-V characteristic is presented showing a perfect agreement between the theoretical desired resistor and its electronic realization based on analog multipliers.
