La discussione ortografica tedesca a metà del Novecento: le Stuttgarter e Wiesbadener Empfehlungen.
2008
The twentieth century has been for the German orthography a period of several studies and discussions which gave scientific foundation to the 1996 spelling reform. There were plenty of public and private initiatives which, by involving an constantly increasing number of writers into the debates, tried to simplify the spelling to a more rational regulation. This essay focuses on the discussion in the late Fifties and especially on two reform projects: the Stuttgarter (1954) and the Wiesbadener Empfehlungen (1958). Despite their deeply different historical background from that of the recent successful reform, these projects are of fundamental interest for contemporary studies, since they give…

Verb-Second and (micro)-variation in two Rhaeto-Romance varieties of Northern Italy.
2018
Rhaeto-Romance varieties are the only present-day Romance varieties which exhibit the Verb Second constraint (Benincà 1994, Poletto 2002, Salvi 2010). In this chapter we examine two properties typically ascribed to the Verb Second phenomenon, subject-finite verb inversion and restrictions on the co-occurrence of multiple constituents in the sentence-initial position, in two Rhaeto-Romance varieties spoken in South Tyrol (Province of Bolzano, Northern Italy). We demonstrate that both varieties behave like Verb-Second languages as far as both phenomena are concerned, but exhibit a specific Verb-Second system governed by the interplay between syntactic and discourse constraints which differs f…

Aussprachetraining im DaF-Unterricht in der Lehr- und Lernwelt 3.0.
2018
Everyone who acquires a new language at school or elsewhere has the right to learn good pronunciation. As phonetic errors are foreseeable, this paper begins by delineating deviations in (co)articulation and prosody which are typical of Italian learners of German, with the aim of examining how far these specific, predictable phonetic problems are treated in German textbooks used in Italy. The study shows that even modern textbooks do not consider phonetics in a satisfactory way. Today’s learning world 3.0 – not only interactive, but also shaped for the individual learner – is characterized by a growing number of Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) and special Computer Assisted Pronunc…
