Finite type invariants of knots in homology 3-spheres with respect to null LP-surgeries

2017

We study a theory of finite type invariants for null-homologous knots in rational homology 3-spheres with respect to null Lagrangian-preserving surgeries. It is an analogue in the setting of the rational homology of the Goussarov-Rozansky theory for knots in integral homology 3-spheres. We give a partial combinatorial description of the graded space associated with our theory and determine some cases when this description is complete. For null-homologous knots in rational homology 3-spheres with a trivial Alexander polynomial, we show that the Kricker lift of the Kontsevich integral and the Lescop equivariant invariant built from integrals in configuration spaces are universal finite type i…

On finite p-groups of supersoluble type

2021

Abstract A finite p-group S is said to be of supersoluble type if every fusion system over S is supersoluble. The main aim of this paper is to characterise the finite p-groups of supersoluble type. Abelian and metacyclic p-groups of supersoluble type are completely described. Furthermore, we show that the Sylow p-subgroups of supersoluble type of a finite simple group must be cyclic.

Perturbed Bernstein-type operators

2018

The present paper deals with modifications of Bernstein, Kantorovich, Durrmeyer and genuine Bernstein-Durrmeyer operators. Some previous results are improved in this study. Direct estimates for these operators by means of the first and second modulus of continuity are given. Also the asymptotic formulas for the new operators are proved.

On the Oort conjecture for Shimura varieties of unitary and orthogonal types

2014

In this paper we study the Oort conjecture on Shimura subvarieties contained generically in the Torelli locus in the Siegel modular variety $\mathcal{A}_g$. Using the poly-stability of Higgs bundles on curves and the slope inequality of Xiao on fibred surfaces, we show that a Shimura curve $C$ is not contained generically in the Torelli locus if its canonical Higgs bundles contains a unitary Higgs subbundle of rank at least $(4g+2)/5$. From this we prove that a Shimura subvariety of $\mathbf{SU}(n,1)$-type is not contained generically in the Torelli locus when a numerical inequality holds, which involves the genus $g$, the dimension $n+1$, the degree $2d$ of CM field of the Hermitian space,…

THE AMITSUR–LEVITZKI THEOREM FOR THE ORTHOSYMPLECTIC LIE SUPERALGEBRA osp(1, 2n)

2006

http://www.worldscinet.com/jaa/05/0503/S0219498806001740.html; International audience; Based on Kostant's cohomological interpretation of the Amitsur–Levitzki theorem, we prove a super version of this theorem for the Lie superalgebras osp(1, 2n). We conjecture that no other classical Lie superalgebra can satisfy an Amitsur–Levitzki type super identity. We show several (super) identities for the standard super polynomials. Finally, a combinatorial conjecture on the standard skew supersymmetric polynomials is stated.

Noncancellation for contractible affine threefolds

2011

We construct two nonisomorphic contractible affine threefolds X X and Y Y with the property that their cylinders X × A 1 X\times \mathbb {A}^{1} and Y × A 1 Y\times \mathbb {A}^{1} are isomorphic, showing that the generalized Cancellation Problem has a negative answer in general for contractible affine threefolds. We also establish that X X and Y Y are actually biholomorphic as complex analytic varieties, providing the first example of a pair of biholomorphic but not isomorphic exotic A 3 \mathbb {A}^{3} ’s.

Finite Groups with Odd Sylow Normalizers

2016

We determine the non-abelian composition factors of the finite groups with Sylow normalizers of odd order. As a consequence, among others, we prove the McKay conjecture and the Alperin weight conjecture for these groups.

Formations of finite monoids and formal languages: Eilenberg’s variety theorem revisited

2014

International audience; We present an extension of Eilenberg's variety theorem, a well-known result connecting algebra to formal languages. We prove that there is a bijective correspondence between formations of finite monoids and certain classes of languages, the formations of languages. Our result permits to treat classes of finite monoids which are not necessarily closed under taking submonoids, contrary to the original theory. We also prove a similar result for ordered monoids.; Nous présentons une extension du théorème des variétés d'Eilenberg, un résultat célèbre reliant l'algèbre à la théorie des langages formels. Uniqueness of positive solutions to some nonlinear Neumann problems

2017

Abstract Using the moving plane method, we obtain a Liouville type theorem for nonnegative solutions of the Neumann problem { div ( y a ∇ u ( x , y ) ) = 0 , x ∈ R n , y > 0 , lim y → 0 + ⁡ y a u y ( x , y ) = − f ( u ( x , 0 ) ) , x ∈ R n , under general nonlinearity assumptions on the function f : R → R for any constant a ∈ ( − 1 , 1 ) .

Multiprojective spaces and the arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay property

2019

AbstractIn this paper we study the arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay (ACM) property for sets of points in multiprojective spaces. Most of what is known is for ℙ1× ℙ1and, more recently, in (ℙ1)r. In ℙ1× ℙ1the so called inclusion property characterises the ACM property. We extend the definition in any multiprojective space and we prove that the inclusion property implies the ACM property in ℙm× ℙn. In such an ambient space it is equivalent to the so-called (⋆)-property. Moreover, we start an investigation of the ACM property in ℙ1× ℙn. We give a new construction that highlights how different the behavior of the ACM property is in this setting.
