Can Interactive Mediation Tools Bridge the Identity Gap Between the Public and the Art Museum?

2015

International audience; Consumer behaviour in the field of art museums appears to be influenced both by the identity of the public and the art museum and by the context. It is a matter not of changing museum content, but of bringing its identity closer to that of the public in order to promote access to art. The authors first present the theoretical and conceptual framework for their research and then suggest a qualitative methodological approach to addressing the issues described in the results.; La conducta del consumidor en los museos de arte parece estar influenciada tanto por la identidad del público y del museo como por el contexto. No se trata de cambiar el contenido del museo, pero …

The restoration and reuse of sacred spaces in historical architecture: the Church of the Santissimo Salvatore in Naro and the Church of Santa Maria d…

2015

2017

Classical Archeology Clashing with the World of Diplomacy: the Case of Salomon Reinach in 1881 Studies on the ties between archeology and diplomacy focus mostly on the way a few individuals reconciled a double career and realized the ideal of a hybrid figure: the diplomat as archeologist. Less attention has been paid to the relations, on a daily basis, between classical archeology and the world of consulates and embassies in the Eastern Mediterranean. Most of the time, one relies on the widespread cliché of the archeologist as a victim of bureaucracy. The case studied here is that of Salomon Reinach (1858-1932) and his abundant correspondence, held by the bibliothèque Méjanes (Aix-en-Proven…

Le metope del Tempio C: dal Museo della Regia Università al Museo Nazionale di Palermo

2020

The story of the metopes of Temple C at Selinus, from the discovery by S. Angell and W. Harris in the spring of 1823 to their landing in the port of Palermo, is well known trough Marconi studies. The aim of this paper is to analyze the exhibition history of Selinus reliefs, from the first arrangement in the Museum of the ‘Regia Università’ to their placement in the National Museum of Palermo (‘Museo Archeologico Regionale A. Salinas’ since 1977).

COMMUNICATING ARSLANTEPE. FOR A SEMIOTIC APPROACH TO THE MUSEALIZATION OF AN ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE

2012

Musealizing the remains of architectural artefacts, like the palace complex at Arslantepe, means creating a semiotic machine, no less. It is not only a matter of showing what it must have looked like in the past or placing it in its historical setting, but of making its value topically relevant, making the structure effective in terms of communication, and reconstructing the meaning that it can have today. This is the only way a museum can aspire to being valid from both the cultural and economic points of view. It follows from this that every decision that has to be taken must express a precise strategy, of which semiotics is the key. The purpose of this article is to offer the reader the …

Per un approccio semiotico alla musealizzazione di un sito archeologico. Il caso Arslantepe

2021

A museum, whatever kind it is, is a complex machine machine that operates on a multiplicity of dimensions. A object of total communication one could define it, meaning that that if on the one hand it is built to show something and give show something and give information about what it shows, at the same time it is at the same time it is itself an entity that communicates. Not by chance contemporary museums are often ultra-expensive projects, housed in prestigious buildings designed by important architects and they are managed in every way as machines to produce profit, real places of hyper-consumption. It is perhaps the most strident contrast in the case of the museum: on the one hand, it i…
