ChemInform Abstract: Omphalotins E-I, Five Oxidatively Modified Nematicidal Cyclopeptides from Omphalotus olearius.

Omphalotins E–I, oxidatively modified cyclic dodecapeptides, were isolated from mycelial extracts of the basidiomycete Omphalotus olearius, and their structures were determined by NMR spectroscopic and MS methods. Four of the five omphalotins contained an unprecedented N-hydroxylated tricyclic tryptophan derivative. All compounds exhibited strong and selective nematicidal activity against the plant pathogen Meloidogyne incognita with LD90 values between 2 and 5 μg mL–1. Application of pressurized fluid extraction to determine cadmium and zinc in plants

Abstract A procedure for the determination of Cd and Zn in plants is proposed. The metals are extracted by pressurized fluid extraction (PFE). Operational conditions are: pressure 1500 psi, temperature 75 °C, static time 5 min, flush volume 35%, purge time 60 s, cycles 1 and 1,2-diaminocyclohexane- N , N , N ′, N ′-tetraacetic acid (CDTA) 0.01 M at pH 4.5 as extracting solution. Determination of Zn is carried out by flame atomic absorption spectroscopy and depending on the concentration level, Cd content is determined by flame or electrothermal atomic absorption spectroscopy. Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) is a promising oilseed crop for cultivation in central Southern Italy due to its high tolerance to drought and salinity stress and appreciable seed and oil yields. The genetic diversity of cultivars and climate factors can affect fatty acid composition and yield traits. In recent years, leaf necrosis and twig dieback in the olive crop have been detected in Sicily (Italy). In this article, we identify the predominant fungal species associated with symptomatic leaves and twigs, using morphological features and DNA sequencing of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region, as Alternaria alternata, Arthrinium phaeospermum, Phoma cladoniicola and Ulocladium consortiale. The pathogenicity of these four species was tested on olive plants cv. Biancolilla. All species were pathogenic on leaves, but only U. consortiale produced cortical lesions on twigs, thus suggesting its main role in the Olea europaea twig dieback. Abstract Herein we describe a detailed study on the rhodium catalyzed oxidative coupling of salicylaldehydes with heterobicyclic olefins such as diazabicyclic olefins and urea-derived bicyclic olefins. The developed method provides an ideal route to fused chromanone systems in a single synthetic step. Moreover, the scope of this methodology was extended to different oxa/aza-bridged bicyclic urea derivatives.

Elektroutlenianie odpadowego syntetycznego oleju silnikowego w wodnym roztworze H2SO4

W pracy przedstawiono badania nad możliwością wykorzystania odpadowego syntetycznego oleju silnikowego do bezpośredniego wytwarzania energii elektrycznej. Pomiary przeprowadzono w zakresie temperatur 293–333 K. Obejmowały one elektroutlenianie emulsji odpadowego (zużytego) syntetycznego oleju silnikowego na elektrodzie platynowej w wodnym roztworze H2SO4. Do wytworzenia emulsji wykorzystano niejonowy środek powierzchniowo czynny Syntanol DS-10. Maksymalna uzyskana gęstość prądu wyniosła 22 mA/cm2 (dla temp. 333 K). Wykazano więc, że istnieje możliwość bezpośredniego wytwarzania prądu elektrycznego z odpadowego syntetycznego oleju silnikowego, a więc zasilania nim ogniw paliwowych.

Koettu terveys on laajalti käytetty mittari epidemiologisissa ja psykologisissa tutkimuksissa. Sen on todettu ennustavan tulevaa terveyttä, palvelujen käyttöä ja elossa säilymistä ja kuolemaa. Siitä lähtien kun Mossey ja Saphiro1982 havaitsivat koetun terveyden toimivan kuolleisuuden ennustajana, aiheesta on tehty paljon tutkimuksia. Myöhemmät tutkimukset ovat vahvistaneet Mosseyn ja Saphiron tulokset. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoitus oli selvittää, miten koettu terveys ennustaa jäljellä olevaa elinaikaa eri-ikäisillä miehillä ja naisilla. Tutkimuksen aineistona käytettiin Ikivihreät-projektin aineistoa, joka kerättiin vuonna 1988 Jyväskylässä ja otoksen henkilöitä seurattiin 18.12.2013 asti. Ha…
