Singular Neumann (p, q)-equations

We consider a nonlinear parametric Neumann problem driven by the sum of a p-Laplacian and of a q-Laplacian and exhibiting in the reaction the competing effects of a singular term and of a resonant term. Using variational methods together with suitable truncation and comparison techniques, we show that for small values of the parameter the problem has at least two positive smooth solutions.

Cystic Medial Necrosis of the Internal Thoracic Artery:Case Report

In an internal thoracic artery intended as a graft in coronary angioplasty, multiple intramural haematomas impeded blood flow and consequently precluded use of the artery as a free graft. The cause was found to be cystic medical necrosis of the internal thoracic artery. A good result was obtained with three single aorto-coronary venous bypass grafts.

Resistance to change: a literature review and empirical study

This paper examines organizational change, focusing on the distinction of changes according to their scope and presenting a typology of evolutionary and strategic changes. It also offers an in‐depth study of resistance to change. Through empirical research, the paper analyzes the importance of the sources of resistance to change defined theoretically, and considers both types of changes. The article shows which sources of resistance differ most, according to the scope of change, offering hints about where organizations should pay special attention when initiating a change process.

The Patres ecclesiae?s works were a frequent topic of discussion at the time in which many humanists stood against the decadent medieval scholastics. That Juan Luis Vives was part of this tradition is demonstrated in his commentaries on Saint Augustine works. Despite its pedagogical function, the scholia of the Valencian author became quite subjective. In this sense, his ecdotic work or, specially, his «criticisms and censures» can be mentioned. Here, Vives strongly disapproves of the intense political and intellectual turmoil of his epoch. Thus, this article is aimed at describing those annotations in which Vives adopts such an Erasmist point of view to comment Augustine?s De Civitate Dei.…

En esta tesis estudiamos problemas relacionados con aplicaciones de varios tipos que alcanzan su norma u operadores que alcanzan su radio numérico. Tras un capítulo introductorio donde se comentan las notaciones, los principales conceptos, y un resumen histórico del estado del arte, hay 4 capítulos de contenido matemático donde se estudian diversos tipos de problemas. En el capítulo 2, se estudian clases de operadores entre espacios de Banach tales que cuando casi alcanzan su norma (respectivamente, su radio numérico) en un punto (respectivamente, un estado), necesariamente la alcanzan en un punto cercano (respectivamente, en un estado cercano).
