Low angle bending detection semi-transparent piezoresistive sensor

2022

We designed, fabricated, and validated a piezoresistive bending sensor, a fundamental component of wearable electronic devices for monitoring human motion. The most diffused opaque carbon-based resistance flex sensors suffer from low detection for small bending angles. The sensor we here present is based on a semi-transparent active material (fulleropyrrolidine bisadducts polymer) and has the remarkable advantage of good electrical properties for low bending angles. The fabrication steps are effective since a pre-patterned ITO/PET surface is functionalized by chronoamperometric deposition, and the silver electrical contacts are inkjet printed. We propose a fitting function of the measured t…

Hipotekārās kreditēšanas attīstība Latvijā

2017

Bakalaura tēma ir „Hipotekārās kreditēšanas attīstība Latvijā‖. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir izpētīt hipotekārās kreditēšanas attīstību ietekmējošos būtiskākos faktorus Latvijā no 2001.g. līdz 2017.g. Darba mērķa sasniegšanai izvirzīti šādi uzdevumi: -raksturot hipotekārās kreditēšanas ekonomiskos un tiesiskos aspektus; -pētīt hipotekārās kreditēšanas attīstības posmus Latvijā; -noteikt hipotekārās kreditēšanas attīstības perspektīvas; -veikt mājokļa kreditēšanas atbalsta programmas jaunajām ģimenēm un „nolikto atslēgu principa‖ ieviešanas Latvijā izpēti. Pēdējos gados hipotekārā kreditēšana ir atsākusies. To lielā mērā nosaka rekordzemās procentu likmes, augstas īres cenas, ģimeľu mājokļa atb…

Tunable defects in colloidal photonic crystals

2006

We present a bottom-up approach for the construction of tunable functional defects in colloidal photonic crystals (CPCs). These structures incorporate polyelectrolyte multilayer (PEM) planar defects embedded in silica CPCs through a combination of evaporation induced self-assembly and microcontact transfer printing. We show how the enormous chemical diversity inherent to PEMs can be harnessed to create chemically active defect structures responsive to solvent vapor pressures, light, temperature as well as redox cycling. A sharp transmission state within the photonic stopband, induced by the PEM defect, can be precisely, reproducibly and in some cases reversibly tuned by these external stimu…

Contribution to a Taxonomic Revision of the Sicilian Helichrysum Taxa by PCA Analysis of Their Essential-Oil Compositions

2016

The chemical profile of the essential oils in ten populations of the genus Helichrysum Mill. (Asteraceae), collected in the loci classici of the nomenclatural types of the taxa endemic to Sicily, were analyzed. Our results confirm that the analysis of secondary metabolites can be used to fingerprint wild populations of Helichrysum, the chemical profiles being coherent with the systematic arrangement of the investigated populations in three main clusters, referring to the aggregates of H. stoechas, H. rupestre, and H. italicum, all belonging to the section Stoechadina. The correct nomenclatural designation of the investigated populations is discussed and the following two new combinations ar…

VARIANTS OF A SELECTION PRINCIPLE FOR SEQUENCES OF REGULATED AND NON-REGULATED FUNCTIONS

2008

Let $T$ be a nonempty subset of $\RB$, $X$ a metric space with metric $d$ and $X^T$ the set of all functions mapping $T$ into $X$. Given $\vep>0$ and $f\in X^T$, we denote by $N(\vep,f,T)$ the least upper bound of those $n\in\NB$, for which there exist numbers $s_1,\dots,s_n,t_1,\dots,t_n$ from $T$ such that $s_1\vep$ for all $i=1,\dots,n$ ($N(\vep,f,T)=0$ if there are no such $n$'s). The following pointwise selection principle is proved: {\em If a sequence of functions\/ $\{f_j\}_{j=1}^\infty\subset X^T$ is such that the closure in $X$ of the sequence\/ $\{f_j(t)\}_{j=1}^\infty$ is compact for each $t\in T$ and\/ $\limsup_{j\to\infty}N(\vep,f_j,T)0$, then\/ $\{f_j\}_{j=1}^\infty$ contains …

Regularity properties for quasiminimizers of a $(p,q)$-Dirichlet integral

2021

Using a variational approach we study interior regularity for quasiminimizers of a $(p,q)$-Dirichlet integral, as well as regularity results up to the boundary, in the setting of a metric space equipped with a doubling measure and supporting a Poincar\'{e} inequality. For the interior regularity, we use De Giorgi type conditions to show that quasiminimizers are locally H\"{o}lder continuous and they satisfy Harnack inequality, the strong maximum principle, and Liouville's Theorem. Furthermore, we give a pointwise estimate near a boundary point, as well as a sufficient condition for H\"older continuity and a Wiener type regularity condition for continuity up to the boundary. Finally, we cons…

A pointwise selection principle for metric semigroup valued functions

2008

Abstract Let ∅ ≠ T ⊂ R , ( X , d , + ) be an additive commutative semigroup with metric d satisfying d ( x + z , y + z ) = d ( x , y ) for all x , y , z ∈ X , and X T the set of all functions from T into X . If n ∈ N and f , g ∈ X T , we set ν ( n , f , g , T ) = sup ∑ i = 1 n d ( f ( t i ) + g ( s i ) , g ( t i ) + f ( s i ) ) , where the supremum is taken over all numbers s 1 , … , s n , t 1 , … , t n from T such that s 1 ⩽ t 1 ⩽ s 2 ⩽ t 2 ⩽ ⋯ ⩽ s n ⩽ t n . We prove the following pointwise selection theorem: If a sequence of functions { f j } j ∈ N ⊂ X T is such that the closure in X of the set { f j ( t ) } j ∈ N is compact for each t ∈ T , and lim n → ∞ ( 1 n lim N → ∞ sup j , k ⩾ N , j…

Functional fixedness and functional reduction as common sense reasonings in chemical equilibrium and in geometry and polarity of molecules

2000

Many of the learning difficulties in the specific domain of chemistry are found not only in the ideas already possessed by students but in the strategic and procedural knowledge that is characteristic of everyday thinking. These defects in procedural knowledge have been described as functional fixedness and functional reduction. This article assesses the procedural difficulties of students (grade 12 and first and third year of university) based on common sense reasoning in two areas of chemistry: chemical equilibrium and geometry and polarity of molecules. In the first area, the theme of external factors affecting equilibria (temperature and concentration change) was selected because the ex…
