Parental practices perceived by children using a French version of the Kids’ Child Feeding Questionnaire
2011
WOS:000293677900024; International audience; About 18% of 6-11-year-old French children are overweight, of whom 3.3% are obese. Parental feeding practices, especially restriction and pressure-to-eat, seem to promote overeating in children. Since no tool was available for the perception of parental feeding practices of French children, our aim was to validate a French version of the Kids'Child Feeding Questionnaire (KCFQ, Carper, Orlet Fischer, & Birch, 2000), and to determine the relationship between KCFQ's dimensions and children's standardised body mass index (BMI z-scores). The questionnaire was completed by 240 normal-weighted or overweight children between the age of 9 and 11. The vali…
“It Is Like Compulsory to Go, but It Is still pretty Nice”: Young Children’s Views on Physical Activity Parenting and the Associated Motivational Reg…
2020
Physical activity parenting (PAP) is consistently correlated with children’s physical activity (PA). Children’s perception of PAP has garnered little attention given that it mediates the relationship between PAP and child PA outcomes. This study aimed to examine 7–10-year-old children’s perspectives on PAP practices and how they relate to their motivational regulation of PA. A total of 79 children 7–10 years of age participated in 19 semi-structured focus group interviews. Through qualitative theory-guided content analysis, using frameworks of parenting dimensions and self-determination theory (SDT), we found that children’s perceptions of high responsiveness and low demandingness in PAP—ac…

Parents play a key role in the youth sports educational experience. They are responsible for the introduction of their children to physical or sporting education and their involvement has been associated with sport participation in early stages. PISQ results revealed excessive active involvement and pressure, insufficient praise and underst…
Parenting Stress, Mental Health, Dyadic Adjustment: A Structural Equation Model
2017
Objective: In the 1st year of the post-partum period, parenting stress, mental health, and dyadic adjustment are important for the wellbeing of both parents and the child. La competenza genitoriale. Verso l'orizzonte della reciprocità
2015
The present essay aims to describe the notion of parenting competence by exploring its pedagogical and educational meanings. Parenting is the only educational relationship with a dual feature; in the analysis of co-parenting in contemporary life reciprocity is pointed out. This means that, even if one of the parents is not present, the caregiver has nonetheless a desire of sharing. He/she feels a need to negotiate and share the parental responsibility and the educational tasks with other adults. Therefore the parenting competence can be seen as a suitable process of the history of other bonds, whether preceding or coexisting in the parent's life (e.g. the experience of being son/daughter, b…
