Ping-pong configurations and circular orders on free groups

2017

We discuss actions of free groups on the circle with "ping-pong" dynamics; these are dynamics determined by a finite amount of combinatorial data, analogous to Schottky domains or Markov partitions. Using this, we show that the free group $F_n$ admits an isolated circular order if and only if n is even, in stark contrast with the case for linear orders. This answers a question from (Mann, Rivas, 2016). Inspired by work of Alvarez, Barrientos, Filimonov, Kleptsyn, Malicet, Menino and Triestino, we also exhibit examples of "exotic" isolated points in the space of all circular orders on $F_2$. Analogous results are obtained for linear orders on the groups $F_n \times \mathbb{Z}$.

Characterization of the Clarke regularity of subanalytic sets

International audience; In this note, we will show that for a closed subanalytic subset $A \subset \mathbb{R}^n$, the Clarke tangential regularity of $A$ at $x_0 \in A$ is equivalent to the coincidence of the Clarke's tangent cone to $A$ at $x_0$ with the set \\$$\mathcal{L}(A, x_0):= \bigg\{\dot{c}_+(0) \in \mathbb{R}^n: \, c:[0,1]\longrightarrow A\;\;\mbox{\it is Lipschitz}, \, c(0)=x_0\bigg\}.$$Where $\dot{c}_+(0)$ denotes the right-strict derivative of $c$ at $0$. The results obtained are used to show that the Clarke regularity of the epigraph of a function may be characterized by a new formula of the Clarke subdifferential of that function.

Synchronization and fluctuations for interacting stochastic systems with individual and collective reinforcement

The Pólya urn is the paradigmatic example of a reinforced stochastic process. It leads to a random (non degenerated) time-limit. The Friedman urn is a natural generalization whose a.s. time-limit is not random anymore. In this work, in the stream of previous recent works, we introduce a new family of (finite) systems of reinforced stochastic processes, interacting through an additional collective reinforcement of mean field type. The two reinforcement rules strengths (one componentwise, one collective) are tuned through (possibly) different rates n −γ. Additive functionals and push forward measures under Veretennikov's flow

16 pages; In this work, we will be interested in the push forward measure $(\vf_t)_*\gamma$, where $\vf_t$ is defined by the stochastic differential equation \begin{equation*} d\vf_t(x)=dW_t + \ba(\vf_t(x))dt, \quad \vf_0(x)=x\in\mbR^m, \end{equation*} and $\gamma$ is the standard Gaussian measure. We will prove the existence of density under the hypothesis that the divergence $\div(\ba)$ is not a function, but a signed measure belonging to a Kato class; the density will be expressed with help of the additive functional associated to $\div(\ba)$.

Bacteria that establish an obligate intracellular relationship with eukaryotic hosts undergo an evolutionary genomic reductive process. Recent studies have shown an increase in the number of mobile elements in the first stage of the adaptive process towards intracellular life, although these elements are absent in ancient endosymbionts. Polypeptide sequence of the chlorophyll a/b/c-binding protein of the prasinophycean alga Mantoniella squamata.

The primary structure of the Chla/b/c-binding protein from Mantoniella squamata is determined. This is the first report that protein sequencing reveals one modified amino acid resulting in a LHCP-specific TFA-cleavage site. The comparison of the sequence of Mantoniella with other Chla/b-and Chla/c-binding proteins shows that the modified amino acid is located in a region which is highly conserved in all these proteins. The alignment also reveals that the LHCP of Mantoniella is related to the Chla/b-binding proteins. Finally, possible Chl-binding regions are discussed.

Sequence of a new tRNALeu(U∗AA) from brewer's yeast

The nucleotide sequence of a new tRNA(Leu)(anticodon U*AA) from Saccharomyces cerevisiae which could recognize exclusively the UUA codon has been determined. Its primary structure is: pGGAGGGUUGm2GCac4CGAGDGmGDCDAAGGCm2(2)GGCAGACmUU*AAm1GA++ + psi CUGUUGGACGGUUGUCCGm5CGCGAGT psi CGm1A(orA)ACCUCGCAUCCUUCACCA. This tRNA has a large extraloop and contains 15 modified nucleotides. So far it is the third isoacceptor tRNA for leucine in yeast. It has 61% homology with tRNA(Leu)(anticodon m5CAA) and 63% homology with tRNA(Leu)(anticodon UAG), the two other known yeast tRNAs(Leu).
