Children Self-Concept and Family Image in the Protective Context
2009
Frequently the negligence or maltreatment experiences requires an estrangement of children by their family contexts (Giordano C., Giannone F., 2005, Bastianoni P., 2000, Emiliani F., Bastianoni P., 1993). This research examine if and which relational conditions consents to begin again a normal development and to form a new self-concept in another protective context. Particularly it evaluate the change of family and self image during the permanently time in this context. Sample is constituted by 38 children and adolescents guest in three “family house” of Palermo city. In order to collect data are used: DSSVF; TRI, TMA. The tests are analyzed through the use of specific landing procedure of …
The effects of solar radiation in archaeological sites
2013
Ruined walls, paving and decorative elements of archaeological sites are mainly composed of materials with chemical, physical and biological degradation problems that are primarily due to environmental factors. The conservation of archaeological finds requires a protection against these factors. Solar radiation may constitute one of those causes of deterioration. In recent decades the use of glass to cover archaeological sites has been more and more widespread (Fig. 1). The purpose of those glass covers is to reconcile the need of the display capabilities with the preservation of the remains. In general, a protective cover structure determines new conditions that must be carefully controlle…
Itch in the era of COVID‐19 pandemic: An unfolding scenario
2020
Abstract Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) is an infectious disease, caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)‐CoV‐2, that broke out in December 2019. In just 4 months it has spread to almost every country in the world and up to April 18, 2020, the virus has infected more than two million people. Itch is the most common symptom in dermatology and a frequent one of systemic diseases. The association of itch and viral diseases has been widely documented; however, the actual prevalence of itch in the patients suffering from new the SARS‐CoV‐2 infection is still unknown. In this paper, we present a review of the available literature on the topic of itch in the affected population. Mo…
Surgeons' fear of getting infected by COVID19: A global survey
2020
During the last three months, COVID- 19 pandemic had led to a serious backlog of operations globally, and plans for restarting operation are imperative. Recommendations for surgical activities were studied, aiming to protect the surgical staff from being infected. In the meantime, it is also important to give attention to the surgeon’s personal feeling during work. We conducted a survey to investigate global surgi- cal practices during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the surgeon’s personal feeling was also investigated in the sur- vey. In this special letter, we performed multivariate analysis to explore factors that associated with surgeon’s fear of getting infected by COVID-19.
Direct assessment of the sensitivity drift of SQM sensors installed outdoors
2021
Long-term monitoring of the evolution of the artificial night sky brightness is a key tool for developing science-informed public policies and assessing the efficacy of light pollution mitigation measures. Detecting the underlying artificial brightness trend is a challenging task, since the typical night sky brightness signal shows a large variability with characteristic time scales ranging from seconds to years. In order to effectively isolate the weak signature of the effect of interest, determining the potential long term drifts of the radiance sensing systems is crucial. If these drifts can be adequately characterized, the raw measurements could be easily corrected for them and transfor…
Kurs til foreldre med barn i fosterhjem – en selvstyring av foreldre?
2011
Author's version of an article published in the journal: Norges Barnevern. Also available from the publisher at: http://www.idunn.no/ts/tnb/2011/03/art06 The article presents results from a qualitative study of parents benefits in participation in course given to parents whose children are placed in foster care. The participants describe changes that had occurred in their life situations, and aspects of the course evaluated as useful. Essential findings indicate that the participants have increased self-confidence and regard their children in a new way. Foucault’s concepts of Power are applied in the analysis.
Barnet som aktør og kunnskapsbærer – en utfordring for barnevernets profesjonelle ekspertise
2010
Author's version of an article published in the journal: Norges Barnevern. Also available from the publisher at: http://www.idunn.no/ts/tnb/2010/03/art04 During recent years, it has become more and more common to consider children as competent participants in their own lives, also in the child protective services. This agrees with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and more recent research on children and childhood. That is to say that the child is seen as the expert on his own life, at the same time as the child protective services with their professional expertise have competence to say what is best for children. What does this imply and how can we understand the relation betwee…

Application of a polymer-based photocatalytic coating for the protection of limestone stones substrates: an exposure study
2022
In the last decades there have been several studies on cultural heritage regarding the performance of protective and consolidating coatings for the prevention of decay. A coating must have several characteristics such as: efficiency, breathability, and must be durable and reversible. In this research work we tried to verify the performance of a commercial protective product such as Fosbuild FBLE 200, which is composed of a TiO2 nanopowder dispersed in an aqueous solution of an acrylic polymer. This product, which exhibits depolluting, antimicrobial, water-repellent and self-cleaning characteristics, has been applied on different lithotypes such as: Carrara marble, Noto and Comiso stone and …
