Studies on the zooplankton of the deep subalpine Lake Garda

The specific composition and seasonal dynamics of the zooplankton of Lake Garda have been studied through monthly surveys in two annual cycles (December 1994-November 1995 and January-December 1997). The assemblage is largely dominated by Copipo-diaptomus steueri, a typical calanoid presently identified in deep (Garda, Iseo) and shallow lakes of NE Italy and in the hinterland of the central Adriatic region (Dalmatia and Marche Region). Cladocerans and the smaller rotifers represent a significant component of the zooplankton from spring to autumn. Anaesthesia of animals may be useful for different purposes, particularly for veterinary reasons or in experimental research, for manipulation or treatment of immobilized but alive animals. Its use in crustaceans is not uncommon, but it has never been described for Ostracoda. We provide brief and preliminary guidelines on the use of the tricaine mesylate (MS-222) on the widespread freshwater ostracod Eucypris virens and we show that this compound is an effective anaesthetic used as a bath treatment at minimum concentrations of 500 mg L-1. Abstract. Two new methods for vertically averaged velocity computation are presented, validated and compared with other available formulas. The first method derives from the well-known Huthoff algorithm, which is first shown to be dependent on the way the river cross section is discretized into several subsections. This paper presents a hydrometeorological reconstruction of the flood triggering meteorological situation and the simulation of discharges of the flood event of December 1882 in the Neckar catchment in Baden-Württemberg (southwest Germany). The course of the 1882 flood event in the Neckar catchment in southwest Germany and the weather conditions which led to this flood were reconstructed by evaluating the information from various historical sources. El presente estudio tiene por objetivo analizar la influencia del sexo, la actividad física practicada por los padres, la existencia de hermanos/as mayores o de igual edad y la práctica de actividad física extraescolar sobre el nivel de coordinación motriz global. El presente trabajo analizo las diferencias de la motivacion en situacion precompetitiva de judocas en funcion de los mediadores psicologicos (percepciones de competencia, apoyo a la autonomia y relaciones sociales), tal y como postula el Modelo Jerarquico de la Motivacion Intrinseca, Extrinseca y Amotivacion (Vallerand, 1997, 2001; Vallerand y Losier, 1999). Se empleo una muestra de 181 judocas de edades comprendidas entre los 14 y 16 anos. Utilizamos una metodologia selectiva, con diseno prospectivo simple.
