3D models of humanoid soccer robot in USAR sim and robotics studio simulators

This paper describes our experience in the simulation of humanoid soccer robots using two general purposes 3D simulators, namely USARSim and Microsoft Robotics Studio. We address the problem of the simulation of a soccer match among two teams of small humanoid robots in the RoboCup Soccer Kid-Size Humanoid competitions. The paper reports the implementation of the virtual models of the Robovie-M humanoid robot platform in the two simulators. Robovie-M was the robot used by our team "Artisti" in the RoboCup 2006 competitions. French philosopher René Descartes is today valued as a forerunner of the studies of human mind, artificial intelligence and robotic systems. Throughout his work there are large references to automata and the possibility of artificial life, as well as an assessment of the differences between rational behavior of human beings and the purely mechanical of animals and automata. In addition to these references, there is a fable about the creation by the philosopher of an automaton that replicated his deceased daughter Francine, a story that is well known among the French and Anglo-Saxon specialists, but not so much in the Spanish ones, which is what settles this short work

Abstract Systematic kinetic and equilibrium studies on the lead ions removal ability by Ca-alginate gel beads have been performed by varying several internal parameters, namely, number of gel beads, nature and composition of the ionic medium and pH, which allowed us to model a wastewater in order to closely reproduce the composition of a real sample. An ASSOM neural network to represent actions performed by an autonomous agent

An ASSOM neural network to describe the action performed by an autonomous reactive agent is proposed. The neural network receives in input the sequences of data acquired by the agent internal sensors and it classifies them by generating the corresponding symbolic assertions. Design and validation of a neuroprosthesis for the treatment of upper limb tremor.

Pathological tremor is the most prevalent movement disorder. In spite of the existence of various treatments for it, tremor poses a functional problem to a large proportion of patients. This paper presents the design and implementation of a novel neuroprosthesis for tremor management. The paper starts by reviewing a series of design criteria that were established after analyzing users needs and the expected functionality of the system.
