The plan concerning different dissemination/communication activities during three years of the project implementation is given. Scientific results are proposed to be disseminated in well-recognized bi-annual international conferences, such as European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM) and International Conference on Composite Materials (ICCM). Self-archiving of the main project results is planned within subject-based open-access repositories, such as ResearchGate and Zenodo. Two scientific publications in Q1-Q2 SCI journals and two popular scientific publications in popular scientific Latvian journals are foreseen. Computing Subdivision Surface Intersection

Computer surface intersections is fundamental problem in geometric modeling. Any Boolean operation can be seen as an intersection calculation followed by a selection of parts necessary for building the surface of the resulting object. This paper deals with the computing of intersection curveson subdivision surfaces (surfaces generated by the Loop scheme). We present three variants of our algorithm. The first variant calculates this intersection after classification of the object faces into intersecting and non-intersecting pairs of faces. the second variant is based on 1-neighborhood of the intersecting faces. The third variant uses the concept of bipartite graph.
Reliability of adapted version of Italian Label tobacco Impact Index for the adolescent: ALII

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to assess the reliability of the Adolescent Label Impact Index (ALII) , it is an adolescent adapted version of Italian LII of the tobacco products warnings. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A sample including students aged 13-15 years was considered. The ALII is constructed by 4 items: salience, harm, quitting and forgo. The questionnaire was self-administered to study participants twice with 3 days between each administration (T1 and T2) to measure reliability. Like Parents, like Teenagers: A Romanian Youth Smoking Overview

AbstractThis paper estimates how family model influences youth's smoking behaviors and describes smoking behavior in Romania nowadays. A questionnaire-based survey was used and data was collected from a national sample (1,364 people: 536 male and 828 female; average age 22,71 years and SD=3,128). The paper analyses only the items relevant for smoking behavior.Using a quasi-experimental design, we found a significant difference determinated by father's model (ρ(1364)= 0,158, p < 0,05), mother's model (ρ(1362)=0,155, p < 0,05), and brothers/sisters’ model (ρ(1362)=0,219, p < 0,05), regarding smoking behavior.Keywords: smoking behaviour, Romanian teenagers, parental model, Health Psychology
Meditāciju saistība ar smadzeņu darbību, izmantojot elektroencefalogrāfu (EEG), randomizēti kontrolētos pētījumos: metaanalīze

Mūsdienās meditācijas tiek praktizētas ne tikai austrumos, bet kļuvušas populāras arī rietumu pasaulē. Šajā metaanalīzē tika meklēta atbilde uz jautājumu, kādas saistības pastāv starp meditācijām un galvas smadzeņu viļņu darbību pieaugušajiem randomizēti kontrolētos pētījumos. Metaanalīzē tika iekļauti trīs pētījumi ar alfas viļņu rādītājiem un kopējo izlases apjomu N = 94. Metaanalīzes aprēķini uzrāda nelielu statistiski nozīmīgu efektu r = 0,20 (p<0,001). Tādējādi šī pētījuma ietvaros secināms, ka pēc meditācijām novērojams neliels efekts uz galvas smadzeņu alfa viļņu rādītājiem. Adaptive smoothing spline using non-convex penalties

We propose a new adaptive penalty for smoothing via penalized splines. The new form of adaptive penalization is based on penalizing the differences of the coefficients of adjacent bases, using non-convex penalties. This makes possible to estimate curves with varying amounts of smoothness. Comparisons with respect to some competitors are presented.
