Mobiiliopetuksen käyttömahdollisuuksia : oppilaiden omien mobiililaitteiden käyttö peruskoulun alakoulun opetuksessa

Muutaman viime vuoden aikana mobiililaitteiden käyttö kouluissa on yleistynyt. Tämä on osittain aiheuttanut ristiriitaista keskustelua laitteiden käytöstä opetuksessa. Osa opettajista on ottanut mobiililaitteet opetuskäyttöön innokkaasti. Mobiiliopetuksen mahdollisuuksia ei kuitenkaan ole vielä kovin paljon tutkittu. Multidisciplinary learning at the University scientific museums: the Bunsen burner

We report on a laboratory activity carried out together with secondary school (high-school) students, with the aim of increasing their interest toward historical scientific instruments and stimulate their approach to scientific knowledge. To this purpose, we propose a hands-on activity that can be fruitfully performed at the University scientific museums. We organized a one-week summer stage at the Historical Collection of Physics Instruments and at the Museum of Chemistry of the University of Palermo. Student use of resources in Calculus and Linear Algebra

International audience; In this study we have investigated the resources used by first year engineering students in a technical university in the Netherlands, for their learning of Calculus and Linear Algebra. Using a case study approach we have focused on how the resources and their use (a) differed from upper secondary school as compared to university, and (b) differed between the two university courses. French sociology denounces vehemently since the end of the 1960s the important and standing social inequalities both in the access to the different levels of education and in school success stricto sensu. This piece introduces Chiara Mazzucchelli, Anthony Julian Tamburri, and Sabrina Vellucci’s essays on Italian-Americanness, and extracts from Irving L. Child and Harvey Warren Zorbaugh’s sociological studies on marginality and «vice» areas in the US of the early XX century. It frames these distinctive and insightful pieces within the context of identitarian, linguistic, and cultural struggles that make up the archives of Italian migrant communities in the US.In conversation with the five pieces, this introduction aims to inquire into the practices of stigmatisation and reproduction of violence by dominant epistemological and ontological frameworks travelling beyond borders.
Child-centered and teacher-directed practices in relation to calculation and word problem solving skills

Abstract This study examined transactional associations between classroom-level math skills and teaching practices. Participants were 523 children from 31 classrooms. Math skills were assessed three times. Teaching practices were observed in Grades 1 and 3. Child-centered practices promoted subsequent calculation skills whereas teacher-directed practices were associated with a lower level of calculation skills. Higher problem-solving skills at Grade 2 predicted more child-centered practices and less teacher-directed practices in third grade.
