Novel multipactor studies in RF satellite payloads: Single-carrier digital modulated signals and ferrite materials

In this work it is reviewed the most novel advances in the multipactor RF breakdown risk assessment devoted to RF satellite microwave passive devices employed in space telecommunication systems. On one side, it is studied the effect of transmitting a single-carrier digital modulated signal in the multipactor RF voltage threshold in a coaxial line. On the other hand, an analysis of the multipactor phenomenon in a parallel-plate waveguide containing a magnetized ferrite slab it is presented.

Strategies for numerical simulation of linear friction welding of metals: a review

2017

Linear friction welding (LFW) is a solid-state joining process used to weld non-axisymmetric components. Material joining is obtained through the reciprocating motion of two specimens undergoing an axial force. During this process, the heat source is determined by the frictional work transformed into heat. This results in a local softening of the material and plays a key role in the onset of the bonding conditions. Stability of melt flow during magnetic sonication in a floating zone configuration

2018

Combined static and alternating magnetic fields are shown to create an oscillating pressure that can cause cavitation in molten metals. A time-averaged flow is also excited, consisting of two tori squeezed to thin boundary layers. Flow instability develops as a standing wave between these tori.

Space charge behavior of different insulating materials employed in AC and DC cable systems

In this work, the space charge accumulation in three different XLPE based material has been carried out by using the PEA (Pulsed Electro-Acoustic) method. The specimens provided by a cables industry have been subjected to the same DC stress during polarization time at environment temperature. Afterwards, the high voltage generator has been turned off and the amount residual charge has been evaluated. Contributed Review: Review of thermal methods for space charge measurement.

The space charge accumulation phenomenon has garnered great interest over the last two decades because of the increased use of direct current in high voltage electrical systems. In this context, a significant relevance has been achieved by the thermal methods, used for solid dielectrics. This paper presents a review of this non-destructive measurement system used for the measurement of space charge. The thermal pulse method, the thermal step method, and the laser intensity modulation method are described. Abstract We have analysed the growth, morphological and structural characterization of Cd1-xZnxO thin films grown on r-sapphire substrates by atmospheric pressure metal organic chemical vapour deposition, mainly focusing on the Cd-rich rock-salt phase for its promising optical and technological applications. The evolution of the surface morphology and crystalline properties as a function of Zn content has been studied by means of high resolution x-ray diffraction and electron microscopy techniques. Preparation and dielectric properties of (Na 0.5 K 0.5 )NbO 3 ceramics with ZnO and CdO addition

The sintering conditions, phase structure, and electrical properties of the ZnO and CdO doped (Na0.5K0.5)NbO3 (NKN) ceramics were investigated and discussed. All the samples were prepared by a solid state reaction method. The addition of 1 wt% CdO and ZnO as a sintering aid increases the density and lowering the sintering temperature. XRD analysis indicated perovskite structure with monoclinic symmetry. The investigated samples are good quality, the grains are well shaped without a glassy phase. The results of dielectric measurements revealed, that the dielectric properties of NKN based ceramics are stable in the wide temperature range.

Experimental and numerical investigation on a new FSW based metal to composite joining technique

Abstract In the last decades, different techniques were proposed to join aluminum sheets with composites materials. Each of them has advantages and weak points over the others and new techniques and patents are continuously developed to overcome these difficulties. In this paper an experimental and numerical investigation on a new Friction Stir Welding based approach to mechanically join AA6082-T6 to self-reinforced polypropylene is presented.
