Recent Advances in Static Output-Feedback Controller Design with Applications to Vibration Control of Large Structures

In the first step, an optimal state-feedback controller is obtained by means of a linear matrix inequality (LMI) formulation. In the second step, a transformation of the LMI variables is used to derive a suitable LMI formulation for the static output-feedback controller. Comparing equilibration schemes of high-molecular-weight polymer melts with topological indicators.

Abstract Recent theoretical studies have demonstrated that the behaviour of molecular knots is a sensitive indicator of polymer structure. Here, we use knots to verify the ability of two state-of-the-art algorithms—configuration assembly and hierarchical backmapping—to equilibrate high-molecular-weight (MW) polymer melts. Specifically, we consider melts with MWs equivalent to several tens of entanglement lengths and various chain flexibilities, generated with both strategies. Combining Mendonça-Cipolla self-calibration and scene constraints

International audience; In this paper, we propose a method that combines plane parallelism and the Mendonça/Cipolla self-calibration constraints. In our method each pair of images is treated independently and can therefore use a different pair of parallel planes not necessarily visible in the other views. While, for each pair of images, constraints on the singular values of the essential matrix provide two algebraic constraints on the intrinsic parameters, those we derive from plane parallelism have the advantage of providing two additional ones making the calibration of a no-skew camera possible from two images only.

The chain length of anisotropic paramagnetic particles in a rotating field

In this article, the maximal length of a chain of paramagnetic particles with magnetic anisotropy in a rotating magnetic field is studied. The theory of paramagnetic particle chains usually assumes that the particles are magnetically isotropic and do not rotate in a rotating field. In experiments it is seen that spherical paramagnetic particles rotate, which can be explained by small magnetic anisotropy. In this article, the maximal chain length is calculated for paramagnetic particles with magnetic anisotropy in a rotating magnetic field. Factorization of the soft gluon divergence from the dipole picture deep inelastic scattering cross sections at next-to-leading order

We use a factorization scheme analogous to one proposed for single inclusive forward hadron production to factorize the soft gluon divergence present in the deep inelastic scattering cross sections in the dipole picture at next-to-leading order (NLO). We show numerically that in this carefully constructed scheme it is possible to obtain meaningful results for the DIS cross sections at NLO, and so we are able to quantitatively study the recently derived NLO corrections to the DIS cross sections. We find that the NLO corrections can be significant and sensitive to the details of the factorization scheme used for the resummation of the large logarithms into the BK evolution equation. Phenomenology of scotogenic scalar dark matter

We reexamine the minimal Singlet + Triplet Scotogenic Model, where dark matter is the mediator of neutrino mass generation. We assume it to be a scalar WIMP, whose stability follows from the same $\mathbb{Z} _{2}$ symmetry that leads to the radiative origin of neutrino masses. The scheme is the minimal one that allows for solar and atmospheric mass scales to be generated. We perform a full numerical analysis of the signatures expected at dark matter as well as collider experiments. Solid-solid phase transition in hard ellipsoids

We present a computer simulation study of the crystalline phases of hard ellipsoids of revolution. A previous study [P. Pfleiderer and T. Schilling, Phys. Rev. E 75, 020402 (2007)]. showed that for aspect ratios a/bor=3 the previously suggested stretched-fcc phase [D. Frenkel and B. Mulder, Mol. Phys. 55, 1171 (1985)] is unstable with respect to a simple monoclinic phase with two ellipsoids of different orientations per unit cell (SM2). In order to study the stability of these crystalline phases at different aspect ratios and as a function of density we have calculated their free energies by thermodynamic integration.
