A Web Centric Semantic Mediation Approach for Spatial Information Systems

2006

International audience; Semantic mediation is increasingly at the heart of the design of emerging webbased information systems, particularly spatial information systems thatrequire the integration or interoperation of a collection of heterogeneousdata sources. Ontologies are increasingly used to represent agreed semantic ofapplications by providing formal description models and related tools toexplicitly specify the conceptual entities of an application. Past research intraditional database integration has identified key issues in the resolution ofvarious structural and semantic conflicts. Recent research effort has extendedthis early research to address the interoperability of spatial info…

Introduction to semantic knowledge base: Linguistic module

2013

Following paper presents main concepts of Semantic Knowledge Base in particular linguistic module. The main assumption is to develop solution that would be easily adoptable by various languages. The module design will be presented in Association Oriented Model to maintain inner compatibility of the Knowledgebase.

Les followers ont-ils vraiment de l'importance dans le modèle de Stackelberg?

2011

In this paper, we consider a T-stage linear model of Stackelberg oligopoly. First, we show geometrically and analytically that under the two conditions of linear market demand and identical constant marginal costs, the T-stage Stackelberg model reduces to a model where T oligopolies exploit residual demand sequentially. At any stage, leaders behave as if followers did not matter. Second, we study social welfare and convergence toward competitive equilibrium. Especially, we consider the velocity of convergence as the number of firms increases. The convergence is faster when reallocating firms from the most to the less populated cohort until equalizing the size of all cohorts.

Geometry and stacking sequence effect on composite spinnaker pole’s stiffness: experimental and numerical analysis

2006

Composite materials are widely employed in sailing sports, a possible application is for the mast pole or other sail poles. In the paper the attention is focused on the spinnaker poles mechanical performances; in particular the focus is on axial and ring compressive properties of three different carbon fibre/epoxy resin spinnaker poles, to investigate both the diameter and stacking sequence effect on the mechanical performance of the structure. Starting from the stacking sequence used in the production of a particular spinnaker pole, the effect of a lamina at 0- in the middle of wall thickness is investigated with the purpose to obtain a more stiff structure. Moreover to test the proposed s…

Structure of anisole derivatives by total neutron and X-ray scattering: Evidences of weak C–H⋯O and C–H⋯π interactions in the liquid state

2020

Abstract High resolution, total neutron and X-ray scattering data have been used in synergy with Molecular Dynamics simulations to access atomistic scale insight into the structure of anisole and 2,3,5-trimethylanisole, two aromatic compounds bearing an electron-donating methoxy group. A detailed description is provided for the main interactions occurring in these systems, including π-π stacking and weak hydrogen bonding correlations: C H⋯O and C H⋯π. The existence of preferential orientations of the first shell coordinating molecules and the specific nature of the interactions involving the π cloud and the polar methoxy group have been reported and discussed.

Stacking as a key property for creating nanoparticles with tunable shape: The case of squalenoyl-doxorubicin

2019

The development of elongated nanoparticles for drug delivery is of growing interest in recent years, due to longer blood circulation and improved efficacy compared to spherical counterparts. Squalenoyl-doxorubicin (SQ-Dox) conjugate was previously shown to form elongated nanoparticles with improved therapeutic efficacy and decreased toxicity compared to free doxorubicin. By using experimental and computational techniques, we demonstrate here that the specific physical properties of SQ-Dox, which include stacking and electrostatic interactions of doxorubicin as well as hydrophobic interactions of squalene, are involved in the formation of nanoassemblies with diverse elongated structures. We …

Development of a module of stacks of air-breathing microbial fuel cells to light-up a strip of LEDs

2018

Abstract This work focuses on scaling-up of the microbial fuel cells technology according to the principle of miniaturization and multiplication. Seven stacks of 16 mini-MFCs (electrodic area of 0.866 cm2) were built up leading to a big module of 112 MFCs. The electrical connection among the MFCs in the stacks and among the stacks into the modules was optimized in order to implement this technology. Results show that 1 MFC generates 1.22 mW while the optimization of the electric connection in order to achieve the maximum power results in 6.62 mW compared to the theoretical 182 mW, indicating the existence of large energy losses in the system. However, to light a LED there is not a threshold…
