Identification of diterpenes in canvas painting varnishes by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry with combined derivatisation.

2004

A derivatisation method that combines the formation of ethyl esters from the carboxylic groups and trimethylsilyl ethers from hydroxyl groups of the components of diterpenic resins is presented in this paper. This methodology involves two experimental steps: (1) formation of ethyl esters using ethyl chloroformate; and (2) the esterified compounds are lead to react with trimethylsilylimidazole to form the corresponding trimethylsilyl ethers. The main advantage of the proposed method is the possibility of performing simultaneously the analysis of amino acids from proteins, fatty acids from drying oils, and diterpenic compounds from natural resins usually found in works of art. This methodolog…

FIA-Chemiluminescence Determination of Acridine Yellow

2003

Abstract The direct determination of yellow acridine is performed by a FIA assembly on the basis of the oxidation of the acridine. The acridine solution is injected into a pure water stream. This solution merges with the oxidant solution (KMnO4 in sulfuric acid medium) and the resulting chemiluminescence allows the method to be applied over the range 0.01–100 mg L−1 of acridine with a correlation coefficient of 0.9997. The relative standard deviation (%) is 1.6 and the sample throughput 60 h−1. The influence of foreign substances is also tested. The new method is applied to the determination of yellow acridine in waste waters.

Influence of oscillating main flow on separation efficiency in asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation.

2021

The steadily rising interest in the investigation of interactions between nanomaterials and biological media has also led to an increasing interest in asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation (AF-FFF). The biggest strength of AF-FFF is the possibility to alter the flow profiles to suit a specific separation problem. In this paper, the influence of an oscillating main flow on the separation efficiency of AF-FFF is investigated. Such oscillations can e.g. be caused by the main pump To investigate the influence of such flow conditions on the separation efficiency in AF-FFF systematically, different oscillation profiles were applied and their influence on the elution profile and the retention…

Assessment of haemoglobin measurement by several methods - blood gas analyser, capillary and venous HemoCue® , non-invasive spectrophotometry and lab…

2018

A laboratory haematology analyser is the gold standard for measuring haemoglobin concentration but has disadvantages, especially in neonates. This study compared alternative blood-sparing and non-invasive methods of haemoglobin concentration measurement with the gold standard. Haemoglobin concentrations were measured using a laboratory haematology analyser (reference method), blood gas analyser, HemoCue® using venous and capillary blood samples and a newly developed non-invasive sensor for neonates < 3 kg. A total of 63 measurements were performed. Body weight (2190 (1820-2520 [967-4450]) g) and haemoglobin concentration (12.3 (10.6-15.2 [8.2-20.5]) g.dl-1 ) varied widely. Bias/limits of ag…

Comparison of spectrophotometric and HPLC methods for determining sialic acid in infant formulas

2011

Abstract Two methods for determining sialic acid in infant formulas – spectrophotometry and HPLC with fluorescence detection – have been optimised and validated, the first one allows to determine total sialic acid while the second allows to differentiate the two main forms of sialic acid (N-acetylneuraminic acid (Neu5Ac) and N-glycolylneuraminic acid (Neu5Gc)). A common sample preparation procedure (hydrolysis and purification) for both methods has been proposed. The linearity (from 6 to 150 μg of total sialic acid in the assay for spectrophotometry, and from 12.5 to 250 ng and 1 to 5 ng of Neu5Ac and Neu5Gc, respectively, for HPLC) is adequate. The detection and quantification limits (0.29…

Rapid and simultaneous high-performance liquid chromatography assay of polyamines and monoacetylpolyamines in biological specimens

2000

A rapid, resolutive and reproducible reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) method was developed for polyamines and acetylpolyamines by adopting pre-column derivatization with benzoyl chloride. In a single run lasting less than 15 min ten polyamines were separated as well as traces of benzoic acid, methylbenzoate and benzoic anhydride. These contaminants, produced during the derivatization reaction, were almost all eliminated by washing steps envisaged in the same procedure. This simple and sensitive method can be applied to routine determination of polyamines in biological samples. A fine application of this procedure to the determination of endogenous content of p…

HL7v3 CDA Rel.2 Patient Summary and Chronic Care Model: Localization experience and GP/HS Integration Project

2010

The localization experience for the Patient Summary, based on the Health Level Seven Version 3 (HL7v3) Clinical Document Architecture, Release 2 (CDA Rel.2), is presented. An overview of the Chronic Care Model (CCM) is introduced with particular attention to the clinical information systems, in order to organize patient and population clinical data by sharing information among healthcare providers in management of chronic diseases. We propose, as case study, a project for the integration of various services for General Practitioners (GP) and Hospital Specialists (HS), accessing the Electronic Health Record (EHR), implementing the Patient Summary and managing the exchange of Chronic Care med…

Performance of jet substructure techniques for large-$R$ jets in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV using the ATLAS detector

2013

This paper presents the application of a variety of techniques to study jet substructure. The performance of various modified jet algorithms, or jet grooming techniques, for several jet types and event topologies is investigated for jets with transverse momentum larger than 300 GeV. Properties of jets subjected to the mass-drop filtering, trimming, and pruning algorithms are found to have a reduced sensitivity to multiple proton-proton interactions, are more stable at high luminosity and improve the physics potential of searches for heavy boosted objects. Studies of the expected discrimination power of jet mass and jet substructure observables in searches for new physics are also presented.…

Wiadomości o rudzkim opactwie cystersów – na podstawie dokumentu fundacyjnego z kapsuły czasu kościoła w Stanicy z 1802 r

2019
